I gave up Coca Cola for Lent (not as trivial as it sounds) and I have been able to keep it up, though with the nicer weather, it is hard (for me, warmer days mean sitting outside with a Coke). I have also been reading the devotional, "Contemplating the Cross, A Pilgrimage of Prayer" by Tricia McCary Rhodes. It is a day by day Lenten devotional that helps the reader focus better on the suffering of Christ, and thus, on the love of God. I have not read it every day, but I am reading it, and thoroughly enjoying the experience. It will take me well past Lent at this pace, but that's fine. The things in this book are good to be experienced at any time.
So, how is everyone else doing? Anyone need to be lifted up in prayer to make it through? Has anyone experienced a greater closeness to God during this time? Pull up a chair and share.
