Wink How awful!!!

Okay, so I just joined would sisters and I have been reading some of the posts.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2004. I weighed 145-155 pounds when I was in highschool (2003). I had a really nice figure, but I have never really had periods regularly. I had my first period when I was 14. Then I didn't have another one until I was 16 which was when I went on birth control. I stayed on BC up until about 2 years ago (2005). I graduated in 2003 and went off to college. At first I thought it was just college weight I was putting on. But, it got to the point that I couldn't lose weight no matter what I did. I was taking kickboxing 3 times a week and I was still gaining. I couldn't figure it out.

So to summarize, I gained about 100 pounds in a year. When my husband and I started dating in 2004 we decided I needed to see a doctor because we wanted to eventually have kids. We live in a really small town and when I went to the doctor, he diagnosed me (without any tests, he just looked at me and said "oh you have PCOS") he had also told me that I was fat (just like that) and that I would probably never have children. This was very upsetting

I started taking metformin and stopped seeing that doctor. Hubby and I just focused on working and planning our wedding.

After we got married we diecided to go see a fertility specialist. We were shelling out money like crazy because we really wanted to have a baby and we didn't think we had any other options. The specialist wanted to push invitro on us (I didn't like the sound of that) and he also told my husband that he had low sperm count. We wouldn't be able to get pregnant on our own.

I didn't want to accept that so I talked to one of my friends and she told us about her doctor (a regular OBGYN). So, again we switched doctors. That was in the spring of 2007. This doctor had me keep taking metformin and put me on chlomid. The first month went by, with no luck. The second month he upped my dose. It started out with all day sickness and I found out a month later that I was pregnant.

I love my new doctor! I will stay with him forever.

With that out of the way....

I have pretty bad facial hair. I have it on my chin, my upper lip, my side burns, my cheeks, and my neck. That is the only places that it is really bad. I do have a little trail from my bellybutton down, but I got that after becoming pregnant, so i am hoping it will go away. I used to pluck, now I shave it. My husband knows it is there and that I shave it, but we have never talked about it. I am too embarassed.

What can I do to get rid of it? I was thinking about buying a home waxing kit and trying that, but I would have to let the hair grow out a little before doing it and I don't want to look gross.

any suggestions?

sorry it's so long.......

That's horrible about the first doctor. I agree, some can really push IVF without trying the easier options like metformin. All about the money! Anyway, about the hair, I don't know. Mine got way worse when I went off BCP to ttc. It's my upper lip which I can control well with an epilator type thing, but my chin and sideburns are getting bad. I'm in a wedding in May and I'm really worried about it. I'm actually a fairly attractive person and this hair issue is just horrible to deal with, makes me so self-conscious.

I know how you feel. I have to use lots of makeup to cover it up after shaving.

I just wanted people to know what I have gone through. Don't give up!

And I wanted to see if anyone could help me.
