Default How can I find help for my daughter?

My daughter was diagnosed in 2003; her symptoms improved with oral contraceptives but are getting worse now. She is gaining wt. again, losing her hair, having irregular periods and bad mood swings. I would love to know how to find a specialist close to us. I am not opposed to traveling with in reason. Please Help!!!

Hi Kelli, welcome to Soulcysters! First, I would suggest checking the PCOS Friendly Doctors section (this'll take you yo it: http://www.soulcysters.net/#pcos_friendly_doctors ) and browsing the posts that already exist to see if there's been a recommendation in your area. If not, go ahead and post a message that you're looking for one, mentioning nearby cities you would be willing to travel to. I hope you find a more knowledgeable doctor for her soon!

I didn't get diagnosed until DH and I were going thru fertility treatments. I had the same symptoms as your Daughter. Some Dr.'s are getting more educated on the subject. You might try going to an Endocrindinologist (sp).

For my mood swings (panic/anxiety attacks) I take Lexapro 10mg and they have really helped me tremendously. I don't really have them anymore, without the meds I would be a mess.

Some Dr.s prescribe metaformin/glucophage to help with insulin resistance.

Good Luck finding some help.
