Any ideas? I always know when they are coming b/c the area is painful red, and they start to form, but they seem to get worse on the next 24-48 hours. I have tried benzoyl peroxide, sulphur, and even prescription cortisone, but nothng stops them, and once they come they don't go away for weeks unless I get a cortisone injection by my dermatologist, which isn't always available. Has anyone tried things that have worked to stop them from getting bigger as they are forming?

Short answer: No, I don't know how, but I'd love to find out!
Longer answer: The things that have helped me reduce how many I get;
-consistently taking my metformin
-washing my face well, morning and night.
-a light moisturizer
-watching my carb intake.

I have experienced 2 while taking fertility injectable drugs and have asked my dermatologist (after getting one cortisone injection) that left a scar! She didn't seem to have an answer but gave me Retin A (I am not on the drugs) so I haven't had one recently but I have also been getting routine chemical peels and my Esthetician suggested using a tea bag luke warm and then ice..can't say I have tried it yet but hopefully you will find that perfect cure.

Thanks. I'll try that next time, and by the way the injection scars go away in 2-6 weeks. Next time ask your derm to use less cortisone. I have the same problem, and mine uses much less and I usually don't get the indentations.

If you are getting them cyclically like I do maybe you can take antibiotics for 7-10 days a month. My derm says that some do this. I used a prescribed topical cortisone mixed with antibiotic ( originally prescribed for an ear thing) for a few days once when I started to get one and it really helped a lot. Didn't take it away immediately but stopped the swelling and it did go away when my cycle was over.
i'm not endorsing this company or anything but i have to say i used allouette cosmetic 'visable aid' creme on my pimple once as it was forming and it brought that sucker to a head within hours...and i've used it ever since!! I was recently having problems with pimples growing in my ears and used it...and again it would 'come to a head'...but new ones kept growing so i think that was hormonal...
I had this creme forever..its aloe based, and i used it when i was pregnant cuz i had nothing else...and it surprised me! Its marketed for lttle scrapes and stuff...i used it on my 4 year old for his boo boos
Allouette is sold on hsn and through parties...cant buy it in stores. they might have a website.
Anyway, i feel for ya...theyre terrible!

gobs of benzoyl peroxide (JUST on the spot) rotated with polysporin ointment ...like maybe, 6 or 8 hour rotations..keeping it very clean in between by washing your face..maybe using alcohol and/or hydrogen peroxide just on the spot... also, taking an asprin or ibuprofin helps a bit with the inflammation
