A few months ago I m/c and was told that when I became pg again , I could have an early scan. Well I just found out I'm pregnant last week. has anyone else been through this. I'm not sure who to ring or how to go about this.
Any ideas?
Also on a different topic, I saw the GP yesterday and he basically said the hospital will write me. I thought there would be blood tests etc to be taken. How long will it take for the hospital to write me and is this just for the 12wk scan.
I feel so clueless. I thought I would have been given better care. I dont know what I should be doing or not doing. Apart from that prev M/C I dont have any kids so completly in experienced.
I would love to hear from fellow UK cysters on what to expect regarding tests etc

If I were you I would go back to your GP, say that you were told you should be referred for an early scan when you had your miscarriage and ask him to do the referral. He/she should do it for you. If not I would try another GP.
With regard to the tests. Generally your midwife will get in touch with you to arrange a booking in visit. In my area this happens when you are 8 weeks pregnant. She will, with your consent, test for HIV, Syphillus, Rubella Immunity, Iron Deficiency and possibly a couple of other things (my memory is failing me)...these are all blood tests. She will take a urine sample (and she'll test it for sugar in the urine), and you'll have to give a urine sample at every visit.
The hospital will write to you regarding your 12 week scan (if your hospital offers scans at 12 weeks - not all of them do).
Just bear in mind that not very area works the same way - so what one person may have experienced will not be your experience.
Pregnancy is a scary thing sometimes and it's easy to feel a little unsupported. All I would say is if your worried, concerned or don't know what to expect in terms of the care you will be given then I would book an appointment with the GP and talk it through.
Thanks for your encouragement! It is a very scary time indeed as I am very paranoid that something goes wrong again. I know I have to think positive.
The midwife wont see me till feb 03 (Ill be about 12wks) and told me theres not muh she can do for me as she isnt with the hospital I choose. As for the GP he just said I have to wait till i hear from the hospital. He was never any help when I was ttc. I did it on my own thankfully.
The two other GPS at that practice are worse. So I guess I will just have to wait till I hear from the hospital and do the best i can.

I have been through exactly this but i was also seing my gynae and everything was done through her. GP and Midwife didn't really have anything to do with it.
Who told you that you could have an early scan cos that is the person to go back to.
You need to get yourself referred to EPAU (Early Pregnancy Unit). Who usually will only see you after 6 weeks.
Because i was with my gynae i was seem the same week and was offered a scan every week if i wanted to, but i know a lot a places won't and i did have special circumstances.
Good luck
Caz

I had a m/c before having Anna and so when I was pg with her I was very nervous, and the Early Preganancy Unit gave me a scan at 8 weeks. Definitely ask for their number and you can refer yourself.
I also got one with Maddie as I had been to them before, so it's great for reassurance.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope everything goes smoothly.
