Default How is a D&C performed?

If I need a D&C done, What will they do? Is it quick or is it like a surgery?
Thanks
Tammy

Hi Tammy -

Sorry to hear about your loss! (((hugs)))

Depends on your dr and facility that you have been going to. When I had my D&C I had been seeing and RE so I had outpatient surgery. It was very simple procedure I went in for some pre blood work about 9 am was scheduled for 11 am and went home around 2 pm (that will just depend on how long it takes you to wake up from the meds and come to).

I know that some have done it is a medical office but they told me they won't do that again because you are not completely out like mine. I took a whole week off but could have gone back to work like Wednesday if done on Monday - some women said they went back the next day but I was still kind of groggy from the meds and plus it was nice to have the time home as I was not emotionally ready to return to work right away!

GL!

I think it's different depeding on where you have it. I had mine in a hospital. I was asleep for the whole thing and was able to go home after I woke up and went to the bathroom. It wasn't that bad. The emotional part was so much worse than the physical. You have some cramping and soreness. I had to wear DHs sleep pants because mine were too tight after the procedure. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I know this time is so difficult and no one should ever have to go through it.

I have had 11.. in 14 years.

NOT GOOD

The latest ( for my loss in april ) was the best. I was hospitalized and completely out! I would do it that way again if need be -

the others were out patient and or office only - HARD on a body and hard on a kid ( i was only 10 for the first one - YES 10!!! )

I wish you well - and a fast healing!!

(( HUGS)))
