I recently questioned my doctor about my chances of having PCOS since I have many of the signs and symptoms and scored a 10 on th equiz from this site and he said, well women with PCOS and the rest came out to be blah, blah, blah...you are too thin! How do I get him to see past my pants size and look for a reason for my funk AF and acne and migraines and mustache and all of it!
I really like my doctor and I think he is just terribly miseducated and I am going to be the patient that educates him, I just have no idea how to do it! I know he will listen to me, I just have to have enough information to bombard him with.

If he is that undereducated about it, do you really want him treating you for it? Personally I would find a different doctor, or a specialist that knows stuff cause it is a very complicated problem and there is no normal in anyone with it. I am 100lbs and 5"4 and have it pretty bad. I have all signs except over weight.

I wouldn't want to be my Dr.'s geniea pig personally. I would give him the paperwork and then request a referal to a specialist.

I think in general people need to choose physicians that listen to them and look at them in a holistic sense. You don't want to settle for easy answers with your health.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. I love my physician. I have been going to him since I was like 10. I thought I could get all kinds of info together, know my facts, and educate him. NOT!!!! He is still stuck on the idea that I can't have PCOS because I'm not overweight and don't have a beard. He didn't even read the research I brought in. He wouldn't prescribe me Met so I could give it a try. (So I got some on my own). I left in tears. I tried using facts, pleading, and begging. No go.
If you have good insurance, find a great RE. I don't have insurance.
