How did you know it was time for a Dosage increase?
I have been on Lexapro 10mg. for approx. 8 weeks now, I was feeling better and more energized, then found that I am kinda at a brick wall, I have messed up with the timing of taking the meds, which I see some say take it the same time every day to avoid fluctuations in serotonin levels. I am "anxious" about an increase, because I was wondering suppose I keep hitting the same "brick wall" will the dosage have to keep increasing, or will I get to a dose that works great for me? The psych. said if I needed to go to 15mg, do so, if I feel like I hit a standstill. Maybe this is what he was talking about. Another dr. also said that he though Zoloft would be a better choice for me, but I don't know if that would work better, and quiet honestly I am nervous about switching these types of meds. Thats probably why I haven't increased this one. This is so frustrating. Is Lexapro 10mg considered to be a low dosage? I truly do not want to become dependant.

10 mgs is low, but even if this one stops working for you there are hundreds to try, no worries, there is something for everyone. And yeah you should take it around the same time everyday, I take mine at supper cause generally I eat around the same time everyday.
Please don't think you are dependant, these drugs help you to be the person you feel you are. if you were diabetic and needed insulin you are not dependant, you just need it YKWIM?
(((((hugs sweetie)))))
here to talk whenever you need!
I also have a message board the link is in my sig and I also have msn.

I think your first step would be to get back to taking your pills on a more regular time schedule. I found that when I first started anti-depressants, it made a difference. It doesn't matter as much now that I've been on them for a bit...but if it helps you, it will at least delay an increase in dose.
I take the max dose for Wellbutrin, and it's the only way it's worked for me. I started much lower...but it didn't help enough. I've been at the max dose for about a year now and haven't felt the need to change meds. So, you might end up increasing your dose...but then staying there and not needing to increase again.
Hope things work out for you.

I know that I had to try several different depression meds before I found the one that works for me. I take 100 mg of Zoloft,,, I have anxiety, paranoia, and severe depression. I hope everything works out for you!!

Talk to your doctor. I started Zoloft in January and was doing much better for about 4 weeks and then hit a wall. When I saw my doctor in March, he increased the dose, and that worked for me. I'm not saying that an increased dose is what you need, but I would start by taking your medicine at the same time and possibly keeping a log as to how you feel each day. If you notice that things aren't getting better, I would defnitely go in to see your doctor. You may be on the wrong medicine or the wrong dosage.
Thanks ladies for your responses, I will first start taking them at the same time, then I will see if I become more stable with it. If not I will talk to the dr. about it. I am also going to start exercising in the early mornings, I hear that can help with it too!
Have a great day!
