Ah Carrie best of luck with it. From what I've read and seen, the GI looks good - healthy, not faddy and lots of stuff to keep you full. I know what it's like - when we've had relatives staying, I've gone right off track - either eating too few calories because they watch you like a hawk and the sarcy remarks just get too much, or eating crap because you eat what they do, just to keep the peace/save time. I'm sure you'll be right back on track now - sometimes it takes a while to find 'your' diet as well, what works for you. I had a big false start before this diet, too, so sympathise there as well!
I stalled for about 6 weeks, including most of the start of our challenge here - but lost last week and a bit again this and I think it's totally down to my cycle (I don't mean me bike!) As when I look at the pattern that's emerged over the past 7 mths, I only seem to lose properly two weeks out of every 6. I can go down 4lbs in a week then nowt for 4-6 weeks, doing nothing different and the closer to goal I get, the worse it gets!
Good news is I started the challenge with around 10lb to lose, now I've got around 5, so something is working - although it still seems one step forward, 2 back, I dunno why.
Short of training for the Olympics, I don't see how I could do any more exercise! It was horrible doing it week in, week out with absolutely NO weight loss so even though I lost this past 2 weeks, I still don't 'trust' it.
Good luck to everyone - hope you're all doing well!
Love, Polly x
PS I nearly had kittens this morning when I got on my Tescos cheapo scale to find out I weigh nearly 14 stone. Yesterday I was 11 stone 7! My naughty toddler had been 'playing' with the scales - think he's wrecked them too. Lucky I kept my old ones 'just in case' or I'd have spent all today wondering if I really put on 3 stone in a day...

I've delevoped IBS which has not been pleasant, it's made me quite ill over the last few weeks. Some days I have not been able to stand up from pain. I believe the low carbing for over a year has helped lead to these #2 troubles therefore i'm currently trying to change my diet. To early to tell how my body is adjusting yet but I'm sure over the next few weeks I'll see some changes. I would rather be overweight than go through this pain and embarrassment again.

Walking & Low Carbing to 146lbs - nearly there!
July 07 : 167lbs
Sept 07: 153lbs
Nov 07: 147lbs
May 08: 144lbs
July 08: 140lbs
I can relate, I think years of yo-yo dieting, starving, bingeing and generally absuing my digestive system has wreaked havoc with my #2 department.
Hope things get better for you and you feel better soon.
As for my diet... don't go there! No loss this week!

I have bought the GI Diet book by Rick Gallop, he does it in a traffic light method and i am trying to get my head round it at the moment. I also bought the little shopping guide too. the main book was £10.99. Buy it and we can help each other out. It seems a lttle complicated but i think he is just telling you the science behind it all. I have most of the diet stuff, but there are also meal plans etc in it.
The basic idea is when you eat carb you need to eat complex rather than simple carb (wholemeal bread rather than white) and so on. yo also need to have a balanced diet half carb, quarter protein and quarter fats. I still have a bit of a problem with the whole whats protein etc. but he is basically satying divide you plate, have half ved and salad, a quarter protein like chicken and a quarter carbs like basmati rice.
It is actually very interesting, we'll see how it goes, will start on monday but have bought stuff to make my own wholemeal bread for sunday.
good luck
caz xxx

sorry to gate crash your thread ladies but I thought I would share something
I have followed patrick holfords low GL diet for 5wks I am a thin cyster.
I had my hormone panel done and I am totally amazed (I am unsure if it is totally to do with diet but 99% convined as its the only thing I have done different in last year other than IVF!)
Ok before and after results:
BEFORE:
FSH: 9.4
LH: 19.9 above normal
Oestradiol: <73.4 Post menopausal level <75!!
Above levels were 1yr after starting Metformin
AFTER:
FSH: 3.7
LH: 3.0
Oestradiol: 296
So I am very normal as my hormones go first time since 2001 I am absolutely extatic can you tell and I no longer have the 3:1 ratio
I felt alot better on this after 5 days I had no energy dips
good luck girls

Well I lost 6lbs so far and I wanted to lose 14lbs altogether by the beginning of April so that leaves me 8lb more to lose.
I have more weight than that to lose but I'm trying to look at it in short bursts so I don't get put off, lol
I spent the last two days researching so I'm starting a new diet and exercise programme (I've been on a PSMF the last 6 weeks to get myself weaned off the sugar!) so I'm looking forward to eating normal food again.
I am worried about the weight loss though. I lose so slooowly. I shall be upping my exercise to include pre breakfast aerobics, weight training and HIIT

Got to wean myself off that carb overload I've been having lately...... To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 0 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I doubt I'll lose anything this week - not only my usual 4 week long stall, but dad's 80th birthday and LOTS of cake and jam tarts yesterday (only the second time in 7 months I've had a day off the eating plan, so I'm not going to stress it). But I know the scales will go up, or stay put for ages before they come down again. I think this last 5 or 6lbs will probably take 6 months at this rate!
