Default How do BCP's affect test results?

I don't just mean the 'female' hormones, but all....
YOu see, I'm going to see a new endocrinologist soon, and I stopped taking the bcp because I figure that way, when testing is done, there would be a 'real' picture of what my hormones are naturally doing. My testosterone, aldosterone, free androgen index, cortisol, and DHEAs are high. I already know the bcp doesn't make my testosterone any, or much, lower. I was wondering if you guys knew the effect on other hormones, and if I'm doing the right thing in not being on the pill to get them checked...

-High testosterone, cortisol, aldosterone, androstenedione, free androgen index, no apparent insulin resistance however
-off all hormone meds since having pulmonary embolism in August 2009
-Main symptoms: weight gain (especially annoying in mid-section/abdomen), high androgens, very low progesterone, no periods unless on OC
-fortunate to have very good bp, blood sugar, cholesterol, etc., no hirsutism.

Thanks
I'm wondering, when I'm not on the pill I never/seldom get pills. And some hormone tests are interpreted based on what time of your cycle you're at. What happens with me? LOL

Hi - I know that the BCP can effect your cortisol levels - i.e can make them elevated. I would say you would have to be off the pill for a good 2 months for 'clean' bloodwork. Maybe ring the new doc now and see what they think?
