Red face how do ethnic cysters cope with hirsutism?

Hey there every1, hope ur all well i'm a black sista frm South Africa. I've logged onto this website n joined this forum yet I don't have PCOS! Been checked twice. I've joined cos I'm as hairy or twice as hairy as someone with PCOS. Am the only hairy lady in my family . I'd like to know how other ethnic sistas out there cope with having horrible thick hair in the worst of places. I suffer with it on my tummy, upper thighs, around nipples, extended pubic region, extended armpit region, chin and even my crack! If I wax its back a week later, if I shave its back the same day. I've not bn in a rltiship in 6 yrs cos I don't have the confidence to show my body to a man. What are the rest of u out there doing to get rid of rampant and COARSE hair growth? I've tried the pill, anti-androgen meds, hair inhibitor lotions, u name it. Nothing works. Any suggestions - I'm so depressed.

Hello! You should check out the Hair Loss/Hair Growth board. I am a fair-skinned Black woman. The hair I have is in the same places as yours and is really dark.
You are not alone. I am a hairy cyster also, as are many on this board. Some cysters use wax, shaving with electric men's razors, depilatories, regular shavers, meds like spironolactone/flutamide, saw palmetto, birth control, laser hair removal, bleaching, Metformin to help with hair growth/hair loss. Right now I shave EVERYWHERE, every day, and I plan to start spiro again. I am also working on losing weight to improve symptoms, and changing my diet. I use makeup to cover the follicles on my face, neck and chest.
How long were you on the meds? It can take awhile for them to work, and sometimes you have to put in work (diet and exercise) to help also. Before I got preggo with my daughter, I was using spiro, metformin, and yasmin, and although bc pills mask the symptoms, my excess hair was getting finer and finer. I also started getting laser on my chin, neck, and chest, and I was getting great results! After I had my daughter though, things changed...Now the hair is back and worse than ever! I am trying to stay positive. Be encouraged!

Three words: laser hair removal.

Best thing I've discovered thus far!

Laser is the best way to go, however it's the most expensive. Waxing, depilatories, medication and shaving have their advantages and disadvantages. I know how you feel. I have hair EVERYWHERE - face, chin, back, legs, arms, and all the other places you mentioned, gilead. Experiment and see what is the best route for you. I wish you the best!!

I have to side with the cysters...Laser or LHR has been good to my face so far...as for the rest of the body...I'm working on it....it makes romance stand no-chance at times...unless I have been given advance notice, there have been so many great moments which have been ruined courtesy of hirsutism...

I understand your frustration, Gilead...

Another vote for laser. Hands down one of the best investments I've ever made.

If you keep your androgens under control, you'll be ok for quite some time.

I went for nearly 4 years in between major sessions with no problems.

I only had to go back because I started slacking in the exercise department, which in turn resulted in weight gain and higher androgens.

For me, laser was worth every penny.

I am just ... coping. I have problems with COARSE hair growing underneath my chin. I started shaving it with my husband's electric razor, and even used Nair on it before ... and it grows back thicker. It's not like a full beard, but you can definitely see all the hair underneath my chin. I also get fine hair over my top lip. My legs grow hair like a man. I will use Nair on them and the hair begins to grow back within two or three days. I don't know what to do. I want to get pregnant so that means Spironalactone is out. It seems as if there should be an easy solution.

Keep

Keep your head up and don't be so down on yourself. You can't help that you have this condition, and any reasonable guy should understand that. Don't let hair on your body be the reason you're not in a relationship.

YBSHAD?- I AM THE SAME WAY! I HAVE HAIR ALL THE WAY UP MY LEGS AND THIGHS AND EVERYWHERE ELSE IT IS POSSIBLE FOR HAIR TO GROW!!! I WOULD TRY LASER IT IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR ME B/C I DO HAVE SO MUCH THICK AND COURSE HAIR. THERE IS A WARNING ABOUT SPIRO IF YOU ARE PREG OR TRYING TO GET PREG. I WOULD CK W/ THE DR. I GET LASER AND IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! B/C WE HAVE PCOS IT WILL ALWAYS BE A CHALLENGE W/ HAIR AND WT. ESPECIALLY IF WE DON'T EAT RIGHT AND EXERCISE.

ADEA- WELL THE PLACE THAT I GO TO, THEY TELL YOU TO SHAVE BETWEEN SESSIONS, IT'S A GRADUAL THING EACH SESSION YOU ARE SUPOSE TO SEE LESS HAIR AND GROWING SLOWER AND SOME NOT COMING BACK AT ALL

If they can send a man on the moon, why can't we permanently get rid of hair? Oh well..
