Question how do i?

Ok, i have suspected i have pcos for about 2.5-3 years

My husband is in the military, and i was in the military also... When i was active duty i went to my doc 'complaining' about the no period, excess hair, and no ovulation...

basically the doc shrugged me off, and told me to consider myself lucky #1 i didn't have to worry about a period #2 i wouldn't have to use bc (or would rarely have to use bc)

we are now at a new command, and i have seen 2 docs here about possible pcos... they will not dx me... then before the test results even came back, one said ' Why do you want to be diagnosed with this? if you aren't ttc we will not help you with anything... we will just put you on BCP's... "(which is what they did anyway)

I have looked up the symptoms of pcos, i am about 90% sure i have it... my mom was dx'd with it about 5 years ago... My g-ma and aunts have been dx'd with it...

trust me, i would never wish this on anybody... but i do want answers... especially with our fertility and my severe weight gain...

i have been on weight watchers(before getting pregnant) i lost about 30lbs on it, after being on it for 3 months, it just STOPPED WORKING... i even up'ed my walking/exercising up to 1.5-2.0 hours a day....

i am just at a complete loss... and would like to know how to get these docs to take me seriously....

Default I am so sorry!

I am really sorry that you are having to go through that. Doctors are just people like everyone else, not only do they make mistakes on a regular basis , but they are often wrong in their educated medical opinions. I rarely ever go to a doc anymore because of the misdiagnosises I have had in the past that cost me lots of money and could have cost me my life. You would think by now, that with so many of us out there with PCOS, that someone would say to docs "HEY, this is important, its common, it's not rare, and you all need to be educated on this matter ASAP!" But it doesn't look like that is going to happen. I have very little trust in physicians , as you can see. The best advice I can give you is to educate yourself, not from one source, but from as many as possible, you would surprised at what valuable little tidbits of info you can find. And then after arming yourself with the information , make a plan for yourself, and try to stick to it. In my personal opinion, the very best treatments for this awful disorder are mostly natural. I realize that it can be hard to get a grip on your health when you have PCOS, because it can be a vicious cycle. But please have hope in yourself, you can do it!!!!

Default Hmm...

Well, could you try to get a referral to go see a RE outside of the military health care system? My dad is retired military, and while I'm a dependent I still get free health care as well. I too had to deal with morons for doctors, and it was a rough fight to get a referral to an RE at another hospital, but once I did and went to see her, I was diagnosed. We switched to another clinic in the hospital (the one we were in before my dad retired) and they actually know what they're doing, so I have no problem getting the meds prescribed any more. I don't know if you'll be able to get a referral or not, but that's the only suggestion I have.

Hey Metformin isn't for only TTC--- its another course of action that they could take other than BCP. You'd need a diagnosis for that.
