Question How do I know if Im ovulating?

hello all well i have been on this site before but have never really logged in just looked around but i guess now is the time for me to get involved w/ everyone. I have some questions and Im hoping I can get some in put. I found out i had pcos in '04 and since then have been on BCP and 1500mg of metformin. I have lost about 60lbs( i'm 325 now). I just got off the BCP a month ago and today was the first time I have had a cycle on my own since i was like 15. ok im getting ahead of my self here. when i was 19 i got off the pill... and thats when i noticed the pcos ... hair in strange places stuff like that. i was put back on the pill in 04 b/c i was not having a reg cycle. it would stay for 6 months and i would not have it for aother 3 so BCP seemed like a good idea at the moment.. to regulate things, once again. ok anyway .... now that was said i feel better. ok my question...... now that im having a cycle on my own, does that mean im ovulating like normal? if not how do i know when i am? K WELL THX FOR ALL THOSE THAT ARE GOING TO HELP ME OUT.

I would do 2 things I would start charting your BBT and the dates you start AF so that you know your cycle. After you do that you will the best time to use and ovulation kit. Ok that might seam like a lot to do but that is the best way to make sure. My guess would be you are if you get AF in a cycle and not just off and on.

thx for the input.. another prob. when i first got off the pill i bought an ovulation kit .. just for my self ... to see if I was going to O or not but before I opened it the side of the box said and i quote" certin medications and medical conditions may cause this test to give incorrect results, not limited to but including pcos" i think it was a clearblue brand. it was a purple box with 7 strips.so i got upset and brought it back. i didnt think it would work for me... have any of you used one before?

I used the ClearBlue (was ClearPlan) Fertility Monitor to track ovulation and it helped me conceive my son. I just ignored the warnings. I never tried just the ovulation test strips. I think those have a more limited window for working and might not be as useful for women with PCOS. The fertility monitor helped me realize I only ovulate the first two months coming off the pill. I don't know that it the monitor would work for every woman with PCOS, but it worked for me. Plus I could also tell that my cervical mucus changed drastically, but if I hadn't had the monitor to confirm that, I might not have realized that that was "fertile" mucus. (sorry if TMI).
