Default How do I know if it's working?

I just started taking Lexapro last week. I started off at only 5mg because I am very nervous about taking anything...but my question is...How do I know that it is working??

I haven't experienced any sudden changes. I seem to feel decent-but how do I know if I would feel decent without the meds? Does the light suddenly turn on, and I will feel really euphoric...or is it just a subtle change?

The only change I have noticed is that I am sleeping better-but I think it's partially due to the time change. I haven't had trouble waking up in the morning, and I can fall asleep at a decent hour.

Any insight for me?

Ah, that's tricky. Basically, if it's doing it's job you should just feel normal again. It is very slow acting and subtle. You just sorta all of a sudden realize you're sleeping better, not as sad, want to do things etc. It usually isn't a light bulb moment. You are more apt to know if it isn't working. Give it 6 weeks, if you don't feel better visit with your physician about either changing the dosage of your current med or try a different one. Hope that might have helped answer your question.
