Post How do I know what is covered?

How do I know if my insurance covers treatments other than just the fertility drugs? Like iui's, injectables, ivf's? I keep reading the benefits but still dont understand? I can post what it says.

Any insight would be helpful.

When I had BCBS of NC through my work they sent out a book that told in plain detail what was covered and what wasn't, I don't think I know of many insurance providers that do that, but it definately made my life a lot easier. If you don't have something like that USUALLY there is a # on your insurance card that you should be able to call and they can tell you what will be covered, what won't be covered, what percentage will be covered on certain procedures and what not.

Well the best thing to do is call your insurance company and ask them if they will cover the services that you are needing cause normally the material is just broken down.

When you signed up you should have received a benefits package that lists everything that is covered. I have BCBS and there's a back and front page that shows in great detail what is and isn't covered. You could probably view it online, too.

Actually, you are right. Some insurance companies make sure that it isn't entirely clear and won't give you a definitive answer when you call, without having the specific procedure codes. That said, your benefits description should at least list what it NOT covered under infertility diagnosis and treatment. If you'd like it post it here, maybe we can make sense of it.

You have coverage up to $10k for IVF and related, which is great. Most people have nothing. Although they are not entirely clear about diagnosing infertility and IUI, if they are giving you coverage for IVF, IUI is very likely covered...and without the 10k max. That parentsteps thing sounds like it could be very helpful, if you end up needing IVF, because 10k will probably only get you one cycle.

Thank you Battlingpcos. I already made an appointment with one of the clinics from parentsteps. But thank you so much for your help.
