Question How do I stop taking Vitex?

Hello, I have been on Vitex since January and so far no sign of O . The only thing I noticed is no pms and my cycle went from 62 days to 41 days which I think may have been annovulatory. I am now on CD43 with no O or AF in sight. I do have ewcm occasionally but I think that if from drinking grapefruit juice. I am currently taking 450mg of standardized vitex twice a day (I am also taking metformin 1500mg). I have been doing alot of reading lately about the negative side of vitex for someone with PCOS. I am not sure if I should stop taking them or should I give it a few more months. So I was wondering, do you have to wean yourself off of vitex or just stop taking them all together?

I really appreciate any help.

thanx

Dena

When I took it the first time and found out I O'd, I just stopped taking it altogether.

you don't have to wean yourself off of Vitex. unlike perscribed drugs, if it isn't working for you then you can just stop taking it. also, everyone needs a different dose of particular herbs, so 450mg might not be enough if you haven't seen any results yet.

i've been on it for 10 months. FF has indicated one time that I o'd. and that was last cycle. My cycles have went from nonexisting to the one time that i o'd was 60 something days with a 15 day luteal phase. I've been thinking of giving up the vitex. My face stays broke out all the time. What do you all think? When I first started using vitex I used NPC also. I had AF like every 20 something days but i don't think I was oing. I quit the nPc. Do you think I should pick it back up along with the vitex? Sorry to take over your thread. Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes it takes a year to do see results. It sounds like it is doing some good by shortening your cycles. I would keep hanging in their for a couple of months.

Good Luck

It does different things for different people. For me it made me have af when I hadn't had it for almost 4 years. I started having one every montha dn I o'd every month as well. It just depends. I was taking 1000 mg daily. Also most will tell you that herbs work better when combined together. Iw as taking licorice root as well as some others. but you have to be careful and make sure they are compatiable with your met too.

It you want to stop taking it you just stop. IT won't hurt anything. If it has shortened your cycle then it sounds like it is doing something. I would give it some time and see what happens. It takes herbs a while before they get in your system and really work good.
