Unhappy how do you disguise you hairloss

Hi all, please please please someone tell me, in sept this year im going to a wedding, i have very very long wavy hair and a fringe (bangs), im loosing my hair at the front and have receding sides at the top front typical male pattern baldness, how can i cover the front, should i have it cut and layered somehow, i cant see an option, i bought a wig and it was terrible. like some dead rat hanging about, so thats a no go, i have heard about the extension for delicate hair can anyone tell me more, i havent been to a salon for five years and only trim the ends myself, ive got a round face so wearing it long makes my face slimmer. how do you have your hair done to hide the balding, please someone help. thanks macalla

hey there!

i have thinning hair and i'm really happy with the style i have right now, its shoulder length with face framing layers and layers all around. the reason it works well for me is because i have really 'thick' bangs.. they start all the way back at the crown of my head and come forward. because my hair is thinner they just look normal thickness wise.

Have you ever tried Toppik? It's that sprinkle on stuff. You can get it in different shades to match your hair color.
I used it for awhile to cover my bald spot in back. It's kind of expensive, but it does help cover a bit. It sort of sticks to the scalp more than the hair, though, but even that helps give an illusion of thicker hair.

I am unusual in that I have snow white hair, so I hit upon the idea of using plain ol' talcum powder to cover the spot now. Works just as well, if not better, and is less expensive.

Good luck.

That toppik stuff looks good.

I would suggest that you call around hair salons (and have a look online) and ask them if they have experience of dealing with hairloss... I don't exactly disguise mine because I can't really... but I have a good haircut that draws attention away from the top of my head - I have layers at the back and lots of shaping layers at the front). I also have a longish side fringe as I have quite a wide face.

There are some forums online about hairloss and there is one that is specifically for women, but I have lost the link. If you want to buy a 'topper', wig or have extensions then they are a good place to go and get advice from people who have experience in this.

I have shoulder length curly hair with thinning spots in the fron and on the top (sides too). I wear my hair in a french twist at the neck leading up to a curly pouf at the top. The pouf covers the bald spot up ther, and I can still arrange the other hairs to cover the other bald parts.

I was in a wedding a few years ago, and I wore my hair in a reverse french braid from neck up to top and pouffed out the curls.

Hope that helps.

Can you grow out your bangs? My hair is thin on top and in the front. It's much more obvious with bangs on me. I hadn't had them for a few years and I had my stylist cut bangs about six months ago -- big mistake, I told her to never let me do that again. It really made the thinning much more obvious. Also if you can get your hair "slithered" (tiny layers) to give it more volume, that helps too. HTH.

I finally gave in and got hair extentions. My husband thinks they are great. I look better, and I am tired of explaining why part of my scalp was showing. Go to HairUWear.com
Good luck!!!

Hello there.

I was diagnosed a month ago, and have been struggling to except that my hair is thinning (rapidly) and now my once thick, curyl long hair is become transparent in the front (my hairline) and at the temples.

Pretty much all I do is cry because I wonder how on earth I am going to disguise it when the front really thins out? The back and top (my part) are completely fine, but it is like my hairline is receding (and of course everyone says that they don't see it and that I am nuts).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone know why this has happened in less than 3 months of me noticing it. Doesn't that seem too fast?

Thanks
