Question how do you know if it is working?

I am trying to decide wether or not to stay on the met. Here is my history. I am IR, I have irregualr cycles normally but I haven't had any since Aug 99 due to pg and extended breastfeeding...dd is now nurisng 3-4 times a day (no af during nursing is normal for me)...I recently had a 2 hour glucouse tolerance test and my count at the 2 hour mark was 187! I am also low tyroid and just started meds for that. I have been on the met for about a year now. How do you know if it is working? (sorry this is so jumbled my dd's are wanting my attention...)

Having been pregnant, you need to realize that you have essentially reset your hormones and endocrine system, so you are at a bad place to stop taking MET. You need to get your FREE ANDROGEN INDEX and FASTING GLUCOSE tested to get an idea where your body is at at this point. Then keep taking it for the next 3 to 6 months and 3-6 months from now have those levels tested again. The only way to know for a fact that it is working, is that these levels start to get regulated, and if you don't have some numbers to compare them to, you won't know.

Also: Check with your Dr and see if the thyroid meds can cause any irregularities with your periods.

Having been PG, I would STAY ON the drug. The natural post-baby hormones mean you need to be patient, and let the drug regulate all your levels if they got whacked out by being PG.
