Default How do you know if you are IR/nonIR?

Thin cyster here, but I'm not sure what the difference is between IR cysters and non-IR cysters. How did you find out you were one or the other??

Thanks,
Meghan

I am also a thin cyster. There are various tests, some more sensitive than others. My doc took my fasting glucose and insulin. Both were super and it was concluded that I am not IR. In fact, my fasting insulin was very low (~4 I think), so my doc was not willing to put me on metformin just in case it made my insulin level drop into the abnormally low level. I am satisfied with that. Other people on this list might suggest other glucose and insulin tests taken after a glucose challenge. Maybe they will chime in with the tests they have had...

My doc told me that a LOW fasting level was an indicator of IR... However, of course, it has to rocket after dinner in order to prove it.

I'll ask my dr. about glucose tests at my next visit, thanks for the info.

I am also so sorry to read about your miscarriage... Best wishes.
