Default How do you remove facial hair?

I currently bleach my mustache (God, I hate to admit I have one), and shave my cheeks and chin (also, hate to admit that!!). I'm just wondering if there's a better way. I still have the mustache hair, it's just light, but it'd be nicer if it was gone. Also, I tend to break out in the areas I shave, but no where else, so I think it's irritation from the razor and ingrown hairs. Sometimes get little irritated red bumps too---real attractive.

Please let me know what works for you. I hate this hate this hate this

I pluck mine but I've just been informed in the thread "beautiful hairy women who aren't afraid to show it" that plucking/waxing makes the hair tougher which makes sense. It seems alot of women here prefer to shave as you already do. As for bleaching, that can make the hair tougher as it gets into the follicle and irritates. Bleaching made the texture of the hair worse for me. I still do not want to shave as I have the stubble texture that quickly grows in. Plucking is time consuming but it removes the hair a little longer than shaving. I wax my upper lip because the hair is fine texture and has remained that way since years of waxing.

I shave. I've been shaving my moustache every day since I was 15 and I'm over 50 now. I was shaving it less frequently from the start of my teens. Nowadays I shave my chin as well.

I think the main objection to shaving one's face is that it's thought of as a "male" thing to do -- but then the fact is that whether I like it or not I have male-type moustache growth and nowadays male-type beard growth on my chin. In these circumstances shaving makes good sense.

I use a Norelco men's-type electric razor and find that though I have very sensitve skin it's completely non-irritant and takes only seconds in the morning. If there's something special on in the evening I'll shave again before going out to it.

I shave my face too. It's so embarassing because by the end of the day (at bedtime when I wanna get frisky), I have stubble, and I hate it. I don't ever want my DH to touch my face. He does anyway, saying that he loves me regardless. He thinks I'm beautiful. Wow, is all I have to say!

I can tell you, hunnies, that shaving is one of the best things I've ever committed myself to! I use a Venus razor and Aveeno shaving cream (both Aveeno and Noxzema formulas claim to help reduce unwanted hair).
I am blonde, but my facial hair is just as dark brown and beard-like as it can be! I got horrible chemical burn from sprays and waxing actually scarred me. It wasn't worth it to me to continue that embarrassment, so shaving was my only option. I've told myself that once I reach my goals and get off these meds, my reward will be laser hair removal.
Oh, the things that you get excited about when you have PCOS! LOL!

Shaving is the only thing that will work for me as I tend to have stubborn hair *sigh* I have a beard and mustache (yikes) I use schick quattro for woman razors, bump control shaving gel and after treatment which does an awesome job at minimizing irritation...The only thing I hate about shaving, aside from having to do it, is the acne I get--BUT--I alternate between Neutragena and Loreal's microdermabrasion Kits followed by coco butter which works wonders at fading the discoloration....When I take my supplements like I should, I go from shaving every day to once a week...Tho I get stubble around the fourth day after so I guess I should shave it more often? But the less I shave the less irritated my skin is and the less skin discoloration I have so it's like a catch 22 for me....I researched lhr and decided against it because if your hormones aren't in check it's only gonna grow back and having to pay out of pocket for nursing school, I simple can't afford it right now...

I shave mine. I'm super afraid of even trying a wax or nair because I'm afraid I'll get a rash that tells everyone just what I've done. I don't even have very sensitive skin or anything, but I'm too scared to even try.

I always thought it was the other way around... that the longer you waxed, the less often you'd have to do it? My mom has been waxing for the past couple years and now she has to shave much less.

i use the panasonic epilator. it has been a life saveer for me. i used to wax and if i hadnt done it that week and had an event i would be scared to go because of the hair. with the epilator its gone and i can do it in 5 mins myself and saves me a bunch of money.

I still prefer to remove the hair by the root. Last time I shaved it made every single hair, even the blond fine hairs that are mixed with the black thick hairs feel thick and irritating. With plucking I can chose the hairs that are problematic, although it takes ages to do each morning. Waxing under the chin has left an embarrasing red rash that causes people to ask what happened to me. I lie and say I am reacting to a moisterizer or a wool scarf. The mustache has only been waxed and it has made it appear finer. I only have to deal with it when it comes in dark before my period or times of stress.

Why do you all prefer to shave the face? Is it because it's less time consuming?

why do I prefer to shave as opposed to what? I'm nervous to use wax or nair because I'm afraid of some kind of rash that will let the whole world know what's been going on with my face!!

I don't pluck because the hair on my face isn't really dark or tough enough for that. If I shave you can't really tell that I did until it starts growing back stubbly... but if I shave every day or every two days you can't really tell, thankfully.

I like to epilate when I can. Although sometimes I shave if I have somewhere to go and the hairs haven't gotten long enough for the epilator to grab yet. The epilator works particularly well on the sideburns. It doesn't work so well on my neck because of the creases so usually I just pluck out the darkest, coursest hairs there and shave the rest.

We don't all -- but I certainly do. Doesn't irritate. Doesn't stimulate growth. Doesn't distort the hair roots. Indeed it does take only seconds, but most of all, I'm in control. I don't need to worry about it. My Noreclo gets it all and it's gone -- actually below the surface where nobody's going to see it. My face is smooth. And long before anyone else can notice any regrowth or even feel any regrowth I can tell it's getting not quite so smooth. I shave in the morning. If I'm going out to a late night function I'll shave again before I leave for it so that I can be absolutely certain there'll be nothing but the smoothest of skin. And it actually feels good to shave -- not a burden but a pleasure doing it this way.

I know not everyone shaves but it seems the majority here do. To make my question clearer, why do all of the cysters here who shave choose this option as opposed to the other options out there such as plucking? Was this your first method of removal when the hair appeared?
For me shaving was the first thing I did when I first noticed the dark facial hair but that was because the razor was at my disposal. I have accepted that I have male pattern hair growth and although I can see shaving as a logical and efficient way to remove hair I still cannot. Plucking seems more feminine. I fear once I get back in a twice daily shaving routine I will lose a little more of my femininity. I can deal with rashes and burnt skin from waxing and bleach but for some reason I cannot bring myself to shave.

I shave mine for the most part. Since my upper lip is pretty much soft light colored hair, I will tweeze the course dark hairs that grown there. I had tried bleach but I have to leave it on longer than recommended. I had tried creams and other products either I break out or it doesn't work.
