Default How do you Start Yaz (or any BCP) w/ no cycle

Do I simply take it on Sunday or Should I get medication to make me come on my cycle then take it?

My Doctor is putting me on it. Didnt get the details yet... Im starting to rethink it though after seeing some of the negitive side effects. Its simply to regulate my cycles, I dont get cramping and I have some small acne. I hope it doesnt make it worse.

Yaz worked really well for me. I had no side effects except the first few days, and I always feel bad whenever I start any BCP. Your doc will tell you if he wants you to take something to try to make you have a period. If he doesn't, you can start it on whatever day you want so that your period comes at the most convenient time. If you are calculating what day to take it, take into consideration that your period probably won't come until the end of the inactive pills. That will make your period come on the weekend if you start the package on Sunday. I preferred starting the package on Wednesday or Thursday.

I was given provera to induce an af. My sister was told to start taking it and at the end of the first month she'd have a cycle. I think it's really up to what your doctor wants to do.

I take Yasmin to regulate my cycle, prevent acne, and help with extra facial hair growth. I never had any negative side effects from it, other than a little nausea when I first started taking it.

As far as when to start, my doctor gave it to me and told me to start on Sunday. I didn't have regular periods before I started taking it. I usually end up with my period at the end of the week, but it is pretty light, so it doesn't bug me too much.

I was planning on starting last night. After reading some of the comments on sideaffects i got a lil worried. I already have mood swings-lol! I figured i should start it when i'm on vacation just incase i have negative side affects. I didnt realize it helped some loose weight, did it help you?

I started taking Yasmin in January of 2007. When I went back to the doctor two months later, I had lost 12 pounds. I also started taking Spironolactone at the same time. I don't know if the weight loss had to do with the Yasmin, Spiro, or if it was just being more concious of what I was eating. Yasmin has some Spiro in it. Spiro is a diaretic, so I am thinking at least some of the weigh loss was water weight. In March of 2007, I started Weight Watchers and since then I have lost an additional 48 pounds. I won't say that the Yasmin helped me lose weight, but it didn't prevent me from doing in either.
