I am having this HORRIBLE snacking binge at night....I work hard all day long, exercise, eat nice healthy meals with some healthy snacks in between, and then I just go nuts at night!!
How do some of you cope with those "nightly temptations"??

I try to eat a dinner higher in protiens than carbs. It tends to fill me up more and if I do feel hungry or like snacking I will have 2 oz of 2% skim milk cheese and fruit ( i cut the cheese up in small pieces) so to make myself think I am having a lot. I also brought Skinny cow fudge pops and they are good (for when the fruit does not cut it anymore) and they are low in calories and fat. And if all else fails I go to bed early. lol
I get a decent amount of protein for dinner, and then I'm not too hungry. If I watch TV, which is where I tend to snack, I do needlework to keep my hands busy. I don't seem to get the urge to eat when I'm reading tho....

Thank you ladies!! I'm definately going to have to come up with a plan....maybe make a small bit of popcorn to eat and then go directly to sleep.
I've never seemed to have this problem before.....and I'm asking myself if stress or depression is causing it, and well, I'm not depressed, but I'm also not going through any MORE stress than usual. Soooo with that in mind...maybe the drugs are making me Extremely hungry......which means its time to come up with a plan.
I am addicted to chocolate lately, so I've been indulging in those sugarfree chocolates...I free most and take out one......if I eat too many, it makes me have the trotts.lol I just don't want this to sabatage the exercise that I've just got on track with.
Anyways, thank you for the ideas. I'm sure they will help me out alot!!

This is definately where I have the most trouble. To combat it I make sure I have good snacks around like nuts. If I have bad stuff around at night I will eat it.
Maybe I should try doing something to keep my hands busy like Jannie. I'm not really into needlework, but I'm sure I can come up with something.

All I can say on this topic is ...THANK YOU MET!!!
Ever since I have been on the Met, I have lost the urge to nibble all night long. Now, I only really get the munchies right before AF arrives. Any late night hunger panges can be quickly squashed with a small snack...nothing like the 4th meal I used to eat at 10:00 pm! No WONDER I gained so much weight!
I'm on Gluc XR and to tell you the truth......I've gained weight on it!! I've gained at least 20lbs..........lost 15 and gained it back again. I did better with ACTOS than Gluc. Whats up with that?? Anyhow, I'm trying to work on a plan. Right now I'm jotting down my nightly eating habits, and will check them out at the end of the week.....then I will come up with a plan to aid me. All your responses have been so helpful, though at times I feel like I'm the only sad case out there thats uncontrolable at night. Ugh!

When you snack at night what are you snacking on? ...and do you start snacking because your stomach is empty and growling or do you think it's your head craving it?

Most of the time it's all in my head. I get a craving for something sweet or salty. The salty I can combat with nuts, it's the sweet that gets me in trouble.
Another thing that gets me in trouble at night is I'll be hungry, but not feel at all like cooking. I work really long days and just want to veg on the couch. And if the kitchen needs to be cleaned before I cook then forget about it! I just wish someplace healthy delivered
Now, if someone would make frozen dinners with out all the carbs that would be great. All the lean cuisine dinners have potatoes, pasta or rice as a major portion of the meal. I eat the birdseye frozen vegetable things sometimes, which are good, but I'd love a frozen dinner that was veggies and lean meat.

Before I found out I was PCOS/IR, I would get STARVING at 11 every single night! If I didn't eat I was miserable, and if I did eat, it was about a full meal. Once I found out what was wrong with me, I started eating low carb, and my cravings went away. I'd still get hungry late at night sometimes, but only if I hadn't eaten in hours. And it wasn't always right at 11. Also, I wouldn't be tired in the afternoons anymore either.
Something that helped me with "head cravings" is making an alternatives to eating list. Try to fill the list with things you actually like doing.
I'm not low carbing, but I'm a new Mom with only a third of the time I used to have. Because I am short on time an energy I cook up Chicken or any meats I'm going to be eating for the next few days and I hard boil some eggs. I also chop up all my veggies for the week as well and through them in ziplocks. That way I'm more likely to eat the foods I'm supposed to eat. Otherwise I would be eating pizza every night of the week

If I am in a craving mood, first thing I do is drink a big glass of water and wait about 15 minutes and if it doesn't go away sometimes I will go to bed early or take a short nap.
