Default How do you take your thyroid meds?

In doing some research online, I've read on a couple of different sites that you can take your thyroid meds at night, before bed. I have a problem taking it in the morning then waiting to eat and then waiting again to take the rest of my vitamins/meds.

What is the general consensous here? Is it better to take it before bed?

I found when I took my thyroid meds at bed, I'd have a little bit of trouble sleeping. I find it best to take it first thing in the morning, as soon as I awake. When I was working, it was about an hour until I ate breakfast (showering, getting things together), but now that I stay home with our son it is close to ah, about 15 minutes from taking my Synthroid to breakfast. I haven't noticed any difference. I think as long as you don't take it with breakfast you are okay. I'm am pretty sensitive to changes in my TSH and such because of my cancer history, I know if I miss taking my dose my just a couple hours.

I set my alarm clock a little early, at 6, take my med, then go back to sleep. When I get up I can eat, and I am also taking it at the same time which my dr says plays a big role.

I take it first thing when I wake up. Then take my shower and do the makeup thing. By the time I am ready to go to work, I can sit down and eat breakfast. It works for me.

I take mine at the same time everyday in the morning 8:30am. I also heard you should not eat soy until 8 hours after you take your thyroid because it can slow the absorption. (thats what my doctor says).

Yes one of the side affects is hair loss. It sucks, but at least the pill is helping our bodies.

I can't take the generic because it has lactose in it (a milk product) and I am allergic to it, I get a rash and itch all the time. So I take the brand name and it costs the same for me.

I used to set my alarm for 6am take my synthroid then go back to sleep for a little while. After a few years of that I actually started to wake up on my own. Now that I am pregnant the baby starts kicking at 4am and then I have to use the BR. So now I take my synthroid at 4am.

I take the brand because the generic caused heart palpations. I tried the generic 3 different times over the years to check and each time I had the palpitations.

I am taking Armour once a day. The doctor said that i shouldn't take it with Met, so I am trying to sneak it in when I can.

I'm on 125 mcg of Synthroid and 10mcg of Cytomel and I take them both before bed. A lot of people say that it wakes them up, but taking my thyroid meds has always put me to sleep, blah.

Been on synthroid for 8 years now and to be honest have never really thought much about when or how I take it. Just remembering to take it is a chore sometimes. I have taken it at night before bed many times due to forgetting to earlier in the day and havent noticed a change in sleep. I do have trouble sleeping sometimes though. hmmm maybe I need to experiment and see. I have noticed that it is better to take Met as early as possible during the day. I have only been on it a couple of months and the diarrhea is still really bad most days. Question: is it alright to take them both at the same time? I usually do. Would this be cause of the stomach problem?

My doctor told me I could take it at night. It is much easier for me to remember my meds at night. I have a sleep disorder anyway, but I haven't noticed a change since taking the levothyroid. I have found that to avoid neasea with the met, I have to eat as soon as I get up or I get sick to my stomach.
