Default how exactly does depression relate to PCOS?

Hello everyone!

I have a ?.

*in short, see the subject of this posting*

In long...

I understand how obvious it is that people who suffer from the symptoms of PCOS might be depressed in the sense of feeling down a large portion of the time. However, I'm wondering why "depression/anxiety" is considered a "symptom" of PCOS. Wouldn't it more so be a outcome of PCOS or.. something like that? Does PCOS actually cause chemical imbalances in the brain that would be considered clinicial depression? What's the deal w/ anxiety too? I know I cry a lot and i'm always paranoid about every little thing... but does any of this have to do with PCOS or is it really unrelated?

Basically, the answer to your question is, YES.

PCOS is considered by some experts, and I happen to agree, to be caused in the BRAIN. Basically, although we are not sure of the specifics, by chemical imballences which effect the hormone regulating centres (hypothalamus and pituitary gland). This is really the only explanation for PCOS hat can encompass ALL of the symptoms of the syndrome.

Therefore, this same imballence can cause other problems such as clinical depression, epilepsy, and other mainstream mental disorers, as well as problems with the periphera parts of the brain, such as the eyes and nervous system in some cases.

Although we are NOT sure on the specifics, because the brain is o complex and we know relatively little about it, this seems to be the explanation you were looking for, I hope this helps.

Default feelin blue

I too have pcos and feel blue sometimes. I try to stay motivated and some days it just doesnt happen. I blame our hoermones for this silly thing they call depression. Every time you go to the doc they try and put you on anti-depressents. I can handle this myself and think if we help each other we can feel better. So go girl i need some help like all of you too.

Talk later
