Default How to find a Naturopathic Dr.?

I am 27 and have had PCOS for as long as I can remember. My doctors have had me on BCP off and on for years. I have no periods unless I am on them. My symptoms are continually getting worse and I know that it is from the BCP. I am wanting to go the alternative route but I'm not sure where to start. My questions is....How do I find a Naturopathic Dr.? I live in Columbus, OH and I've tried during searches on the web but seem to come up empty-handed.

Any help appreciated...thanks!

I found my naturopath by talking to the staff at my local health food stores. Often, staff in these stores are familiar with local complementary physicians.

Hi Ajani,

Thanks for the reply. We have several excellent health food stores here and that is a wonderful idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I am going to stop at my favorite one tomorrow evening and see what I can find out.

Thanks again

I recently checked out, "The Hormone Connection - Revolutionary Discoveries Linking Hormones and Women's Health Problems" by Gale Maleskey, (and others) at my local library. There are some Alternative Medicine resources in the back that you might be able to use. I'm typing this as it in listed in the resource guide, just w/o the addresses:

1. American Association of Naturopathic Physicians

-Has searchable databases of information and resources on natural healing by licensed naturopathic physicians

http://www.naturopathic.org

2. American Association of Oriental Medicine

-This organization can help you find a qualified Oriental medicine specialist in your area

(888) 500-7999

http://www.aaom.org

3. American Holistic Medical Association

-Provides "doctor finder", consumer information, publications, and resource guide.

http://www.holisticmedicine.org

4. National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

-This national organization for herbalists in the United States grants board certification in Chinese herbology.

http://www.nccaom.org

I'd recommend the book too.

-Good luck!

Default canadian naturopaths

Canadian cysters,

Does anyone know if there are similar/comparable oraganizations and affiliations for naturopaths in Canada? Or, if you live in Toronto, can you recommend someone?

Thanks,
Simone
