How to find ovulation when tests are always positive?
My ovulation tests are always positive, so they're no use. So how can I find out when I'm ovulating? Unfortunately my cycles are very irregular so I can't calculate when I ovulate either. I have thought about temping, but I know that will only tell me when ovulation has occured, and to be able to conceive I need to know before it happens. So to those of you with the same problem, what do you do?
I am so glad you asked this question. I have asked this question and haven't gotten an answer. I have wondered if the fertility monitor would work for us as opposed to the sticks. I know it is expensive, but so is buying sticks each month that don't work. I feel so frustrated about not knowing when I ovulate. In fact, I am still not sure when I ovulated for this cycle so I don't know if I am testing for pregnancy too early. I asked my doctor about what I should do. She suggested doing a trigger shot so that you ovulate within 48 hours of the shot. I know I'm probably not very helpful, however sometimes it is nice to know there is someone out there with the same frustrations. My first positive was SO exciting...then after the tenth positive in the same cycle it wasn't so exciting. I hope you get some good answers!

It is good to know that other people have the same problem (not that I wish for anyone to have to struggle to get pregnant). It is definitely frustrating. I have thought about monitors as well, maybe that's the best, or only, way to find ovulation. But they are, as you say, expensive. I hope we can get some good answers as well. I believe that fertility monitors won't work for you if OPK's don't work. The best thing to do is temp, monitor cervical mucus, and cervical position (if you can). Chart everything on FertilityFriend.com. It's true that you won't know that ovulation has occurred until after the fact, but you can start having sex every other day as soon as you get EWCM and keep doing it until you have confirmed ovulation. It's exhausting, but it's pretty much the only way to do it at home without the help of a doctor.

I would recommend a combination of a saliva microscope such as ovulite and charting your BBT in conjunction with BD every other day. I would also suggest buying a program such as Hormonal Forecaster or a subscription to Fertility Friend, where you can keep all of this data together. OPK frequently just don't work for cysters some always get positive - we always got negatives. We use hormonal forecaster and I do really like it. Before we used it I used to keep everything written down but was confused by it. We got pg w/ dd#1 using only met and an ovulite for ovulation prediction. We did BBT but I didn't really understand it without a chart. When we started TTC#2 I got hormonal forecaster and enetered in all of the old data because it will use past cycles to predict ovulation (and will give you an O window of about 2 wks as well as chart when it thinks you ovulated post O) and I realized our BBT's were accurate and I just couldn't do it w/o the program. Our program as well as fertility friend likes to have 3 indicators for O and will take cervical mucous and position into account - two more free ways to chart O. So - with cervical mucous, temp, and saliva microscope you would have three ways to chart. Our program, hormonal forecaster, will give you a window of when to make sure you BD every other day. With BBT you should know for sure you O'd after the fact.

edit: i see ovulite is out of stock indefinitely but all saliva scopes are created equal... so if you find one, it will do. The only features I would rec it def has are a focus dial and a cap or carrying case
