Hi. I posted about this on another thread, and KatK suggested I share it here on the acne board. The question we were discussing on the other thread was about raw foods, an I was saying that raw really helped me find success in managing my PCOS. Here's a quote from what I posted there:
Raw really helped me with my PCOS
I found this thread from a google search. I thought it might be a good place to share that raw foods were key to my own journey with PCOS. I feel that eating this way, and continueing to eat high raw for over four years, has helped me keep my symtoms at bay. I write about this on my website, here, and recently on a blog entry where I talked about raw and acne.
I don't claim that raw is the be all end all, even though I was 100% raw for a long time. As a nutritionist I have come to see that raw can be part and parcel to a detoxification regime that can truly benefit us gals with PCOS. It was the worst of my symptoms that drove me to learn about the raw diet. Id been diagnosed back in the late 90s, and although I had managed to deal with much of the worst of it, I was still plagued with fibroids and irregular cycles. I invite you to read my story.
This website and forum is really inspiring to me. I hope that I can return the favor.
I'm no longer 100% raw, although I still consider myself a raw food enthusiast because the detoxification that it provided, as well as the support to my skin and liver, has seriously decreased my acne afflictions. I have been able to 'comfortably' go without makeup, and my pores have dimished. (I won't retype the whole story, but if you follow the link above, you'll see the article I wrote about it.)
I encourage the inclusion of fresh fruits and vegetables to all my clients. It helps with lots of things, not just acne. That said, I've also done a lot of reading about how one can make topical preparations for blemishes using the same ingredients we eat from that food group. I love making a 'scrub' with rolled oats that were blended in a food processor till they make a mush. Just mix with a bit of water, and viola!
Hope that everyone has success, regardless of the method they chose to deal with thier skin,
Cassy
