This won't be for everyone, but it worked for me. After I stopped bleeding my progesterone began rising on it's own and I had 12 days of high progesterone (not had it in months!!).
I changed my diet. I no longer eat white foods, i am on a low carb diet.
I got my allergies checked - I have candida albicans.
Acupuncture made the bleeding stop within 4 hours.
I upped my iodine. Without sufficient iodine, we can't make hormones.
In the end I lost 12 lbs, went through a mild pms. Got my period yesterday (and boy do I know it's my period and not painless spotting!!!).
Everyone is different, but I went through the posts here and picked up ideas on what to do, The low-carb idea really worked for me. I cannot thank the women here enough for sharing themselves as they do - you guys are helpful even at times when you think you're not being helpful.
What exactly do you mean by "you upped your iodine"? I may be having a total blonde moment, but when I hear "iodine" I think of that orange stuff surgeons put on you before they cut.
I know right? Amazing how a change of diet makes a huge difference!
As for the iodine, it is a necessary supplement that we all need. I discovered it is lacking in the Western diet (badly). So I took the advise of my acupuncturist, and my allergist and began eating seaweed to start with. A sheet of toasted seaweed has 70% of the daily value - in just one sheet. Anyway, when I ate 2-3 sheets a day, my bleeding minimized and by the time I got the acupuncture - it all went away.
Keeping up with a low carb diet (I only eat brown rice and brown rice puff cereal, no more breads, pasta, etc), drinking lots of water, taking a multi-vitamin, eat lots of veggies - no fruits, and eating the seaweed all helped my a) ovulate, and b) have a high progesterone level for 13 days in a row. Something I haven't seen in months!
I'm not saying i am cured (i don't have pcos), but at least I have finally accepted that a good diet makes all the difference in the world. I was the person who ate white foods alllll day long. Now I feel amazing and am doing something amazing for my body - finally.
I owe it all to these boards. I am really thankful to have found you guys!
I'm glad you posted this, because after reading it I just dawned on me that I had a similar effect with iodine and didn't even realize it. I have been trying to figure out what supplements helped me a few months ago to maintain a regular monthly cycle without extra bleeding and now I'm back to extra periodsi, and I was taking a multi green supplement with seaweed in it! I'm going to start again and hopefully it will work! Thanks!
