    Default How Long

How long after you started taking met did it help regulate your period? For me this is my first month and AF is due in a week so i'm waiting to see if it comes on time...

This is my second week and I started today and it was on cd 29 so thats pretty good. Although I've spotted for 4 days before and it was some pretty nasty spotting (sorry tmi).

A few good things I've noticed in just 2 weeks taking it

I have not plucked my chin in a week
I got to skip a day before I shaved. Used to shave EVERYDAY! (the places I will not mention is not as bad after I shave)
The red spots on my jawline are starting to even out
My acene on my jawline is starting to clear

    Now the bad things
    Major bloating
Can only go to the bathroom every 4 days... Ouch!!
    Am not sleeping at night
Energy level is not at all consistant
    Feel ill in the mornings

BUT....I'll take all the good stuff over this bad stuff anyday!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey there!

I've been on met for 2 months now. The first time I had af was in september but that was because they gave me other meds to induce it the first time. I have just gotten af this week (a week and a half later than I was due) So it's working!! I only had my period twice this year on my own and now I'm getting it with met so it's GREAT! Be patient. It does work!!

It was 10 weeks before I got a period on my own and over a year before I got a period REGULARLY. Until I incorporated eating to keep my sugars stable (And thereby not counter-acting the drug), and really focusing on exercise, my periods were irregular.

With the diet and exercise components, I have had reghular 28-32 fday periods for 18 months!

    Good luck to you!

When I started taking Met 2 years ago within the first month I got a period for the first time in a year and have had one every month since at the same time of the month. Met REALLY helped me to regulate AF. I changed nothing else at the time, so I know it was the Met.

I started taking met on October 6th of this year and i got AF on october 7th. it lasted a week and now i am on day 25 of my cycle and i already started a little spotting. i don't know if it will come but spotting is always better than not getting it at all.

    Default Met

I have been on MET for about 10-12 weeks now and I haven't had a real period yet, I have had lots and lots of on anf off spotting for many weeks with no pattern what so ever...but nothing ongoing. Seeing how I never really bled but once or twice a year, not even spotting, I must say it's definatly doing something!!

    Good Luck!!

I started taking Met - gradually increasing from 500 mg to 2000 mg/ day on Aug 22, 2005. I just started my first period on October 29,2005. So about 2 months. I'm hoping this will begin a normal cycle for me!! Just be patient - as it seems to take 2-3 months to get going..

I have been on Met 1000mg for 9 weeks and no AF and no improvements with other symptoms. I haven't even had any negative side effects. It is as if nothing has changed. I called today to schedule my 3 month follow up and asked about increasing the dosage to 1500mg. The Dr. said I could, so I will begin that today. He said that it can take 3 to 4 months to notice improvements. It is hard to be patient when others have had results so quickly.

Re read my post, sweetie..I was 10 weeks on 1500 mg before I even got my period. It was months later when i changed my diet that they became really regular...it wasn't fast.

Hang in there girl..bet the dose increase will help.

Ironically, the day after I called my Dr. and made a post about the lack of improvement, AF came. I couldn't believe it. I think my exasperation was due to PMS!!! So now I can say that I got AF 9 weeks of Met at 1000 mg!!! YEA!!!

I started in early July after a provera-induced period I needed to have bloodwork done. Didn't get it naturally with met until late sept... but this time it was a 37-day cycle since I have it now! Took a while but I am sort of negative when it comes to PCOS... so I was astonished when it came in a timely manner!!!
