Default How long?

How long does it take for natural thyroid hormone take to work? Is it immediate, or does it take a few days/weeks/months to work?

My endo gave me 6 weeks to test my first dose, then tested again & adjusted. She said it takes a few weeks to normalize TSH levels.

Good luck!

Well it will show up on your blood work quite quickly, but you body 'playing catch up' will be another thing. it usually takes me about 6 - 8 weeks before I am feeling better. That is when I finally realize my thyroid is off again. My dr trusts me and just lets me up my meds before I even take another test. But I have dealing with these itssues all my life. Everyone (including myself) comes to know their own bodies, when something is up. Sometimes thyroid symptoms can appear out of nowhere (takes your body a bit to react to less or more thyroid) and sometimes you know right away.

Most people feel better right away. But after a couple of weeks it is time to raise your dose of Armour. This is because it suppresses your own thyroid and your hypo symptoms will return about then. You should raise your dose by 1/4-1/2 grain. Most people feel best on 3-5 grains of Armour or other natural thyroid hormone. It can take several months for you to increase your dose high enough. Here is some information about Natural Thyroid Hormones:

This whole website is dedicated to people taking Armour and how to make it work for you.

Thank you both!! I think I am starting to feel a little better and less lethargic. Maybe it's slowly starting to kick in now.
