Question How long after Clomid to start OPKs?

Hi everyone
I'm sure this has been answered on here many times, and I did a quick search but couldn't find the answer so I was hoping someone could tell me how long I should wait after my last dose of Clomid (which was yesterday) before I start using OPKs? I read that if you start too soon that the clomid could give you a false positive? DH is going for his SA today, and as soon as I get the green light we are going to start BDing anyway, but I wanted to be on track with the OPKs as well. Thanks in advance!

I was searching for the same information yesterday myself. I hope to start Clomid next month, and I just purchased the OPK sticks this morning from the web.

Thanks for asking, and good luck!

Found this on the web:

Q: Does Clomid cause problems with OPKs?

A: Clomid (Serophene/clomiphene citrate) can cause a false positive in OPKs if taken too soon after finishing the prescription. According to most of the manufacturers you should wait at least 3 days before using an OPK. If you take Clomid days 3-7 you can begin testing on day 10. If you take it 5-9, you should wait until day 12.

Glad I saw this thread. I was wondering the same thing. I just finished (CD 3-7) my first round of Clomid on Friday. So i guess I'll start the OPK's today.

My Dr told me to test CD 11-17, and I take the Clomid CD 5-9. The one time (so far) I've O'd was on CD 20, so I always test later than what she says.

I took it CD3-7 and my RE had me start OPKs on CD12. Keep in mind that you might need more than one box (if buying the packs of 7) as Clomid commonly causes us to ovulate later than the fairy tale CD14; many women ovulate sometime in the 20s.

GL to you all!
