How long can you take Clomid?

My doc says that you can only take Clomid for so long before it becomes ineffective. Does anyone know how long that is?

I'm definitely not an expert, but I've read on several sites that it should not be done more than six months at a time. A friend got pregnant after doing a few more than that. My doctor has not said, but the rx is for a year of refills.

I've read that it's six months too... but not that it becomes ineffective after that (because for some women like me, it's ineffective all together)... but because w/in 6 cycles if you haven't conceived using it by then (since 20% chance of getting bfp every month), then it is most likely that it will not work for you and you should look into something else. Not only that but the adverse effects of decreased cervical mucus and thinning of your lining are greater after that.

yes it supposed to be 6months ... then you can wait a year and try again ... my doc told me that if you are Oing on clomind and not getting preggo in 3 months then you probably won't .. sometimes it take a few months to get your dose right though ... clomid also thins your lining so with each consective cycle it's harder for the egg to implant ...... i did 3 cycles ...
