Default How long can you wait before getting D & C???

Hi Ladies,

After having 2 m/c, i became pregnant again in September. I went for an ultrasound last monday and sadly all that was seen was an empty sac. I went for a beta on Friday and will have the results tomorrow. Anyway... I've opted to let nature take it's course this time verses having another D&C. How long is it ok to wait before a D&C is necessary? I haven't talked to the doctor about this yet, just the midwife. I've read that it can take several weeks for the body to take action. I just worry about possible infection and subsequent scarring. Any advice???

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I don't know what to say about a D&C. My two early losses passed naturally quite fast. It was my choice whether to have a D&C. I was told if I had excess bleed or a bad smell to get my self checked out and then maybe have a D&C. That was a sign of infection.

My 19 week loss I had to give birth then have a D&E.

My dr did blood tests every 2-3 days to make sure that my HCG levels were going down. He said that as long as my HCG was dropping he was happy to let me go naturally. He said if the HCG #s stalled or didn't drop within a few weeks he would recommend a D&C.
