Default How long did it take to get your TSH levels in the normal range?

I just started taking 75mg of Synthroid about 2 weeks ago. I am getting bloodwork done in another two weeks to see what my levels are. Is there any possibility that my TSH could have dropped from 7.47 to a normal range within this amount of time? Or should I expect to wait longer for results??

Thanks!

Rebecca

My TSH actually went up after starting on thyroid meds... I got blood drawn about 6 or 8 weeks after having started it. After I had that blood work done my doc upped the dosage and I got blood drawn another 6 or 8 weeks after that, and that time it was in the normal range. So don't be dissapointed if the numbers don't fall right away it may take some time. Mine took at least 2 months

I was on 50mg. of Synthroid. I had my blood work done and it was low so my dr. wanted to put me on 75mg. I told her I was on 75 before and I was over dosed (that's sound bad) but it was to much. I was put on 50 again and it was too low. So I am right between. So she put me on 50 and 75mg. every other day. One day I take 50, next day I take 75, and so on. She said that in a month it should level out. I got my blood test done and I was in the normal range (finally!!) I feel a lot better. I hope that helps.

it took me well over 2 years to get mine straight, I use Levoxyl and take 1.50 one day and 1.75 the next and alternate this keeps my thyroid levels pretty constant and I don't feel like crap! But it took a while of playing with my meds and brands till i found a brand I liked and my dr and I found if we alternated my meds I got along alot better!! Iwish you much luck!!!

I hope it doesn't take more than two months. I can't wait a year!!

I'm concerned b/c I don't feel different since being on the medicine. Maybe it hasn't really had the chance to kick in yet. I think I need to be more patient.

It took me about two years, and my TSH was not really all that high, it was just higher than what my endocrinologist wanted to see. I started on 50 mcg and got bumped up to 100 mcg and then to 1.5 mcg one day a week.

It finally dropped after I dropped some weight. It was 1.8 the last time my doctor checked it. The nurse said the dose is weight-dependent and dropping the weight can make the medication more effective.

I have a friend who was able to get hers down within a couple of months. So every body is different. Don't stress about it.

From the time I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism (ten years ago), I started on .050 and am now finally stable at .150!
