Default How long did you bleed after a D&C?

Ahh, yet another post-D&C thread from Bekki. Sorry ladies, I'm neurotic.

For those of you who've ever had a D&C, how long did the bleeding last?

My D&C was on May 8th. The bleeding was relatively slow after that then by May 13, it got real heavy so I got a blood transfusion. I also had some retained placenta, which we're positive I passed the next night.

Ever since then, the bleeding has been nothing more than spotting, and light spotting at that. I haven't even needed panty liners. However, it's STILL HERE. I get breaks in between, a few hours here, and a few hours there. I thought it was almost done (went over 20 hours with no bleeding) then DH and I had sex and shortly after, it's back to heavy spotting.

TMI - - - It's not like, blood blood. It's more like red, watery mucousy kinda stuff, kinda like what I have at the beginning or end of AF.

I called the nurse and first she said, "Hmmm." Great. Then she said that this sort of thing tends to happen to women post-partum when they get back to their normal activities. I told her I am taking 2 30 minute walks every day, and she says that's probably it.

Any thoughts? How long did everyone else bleed after a D&C?

Sorry, just me being crazy neurotic over here.

Sorry you're still going through this. However, I would do the bleeding countdown from when you passed the last of that placenta -- on the 13th. So you're about two weeks and a half weeks into it, which was about where I was when I stopped.

And the part about not needing panty liners and having the mucousy stuff on and off seems to track with what I had for about 2 1/2 weeks.

Since things were still tender inside and your body was still standing down after a pregnancy, I'm not surprised that there was a little spotting after you had sex. I wouldn't worry about it much.

Waiting is always the hardest part.

Fleegle - Thanks! That makes me feel MUCH better. I've read so much about bleding stopping within 10 days of a D&C so I began to worry. Now thinking about it, that totally doesn't count because of the retained placenta.

Hopefully this is the end of it! I'm going to give my walking a break for a couple days to see if I can't help it stop faster.
