Default How long did you bleed after a hysterosalpingogram (dye test)?

I had this test done on Friday. I didn't feel a thing, (REALLY!!!) and didn't even bleed until Sunday night, just a little bit. That little bit has increased to a normal monthly flow amount, and it's now Tuesday. I called my Dr. yesterday and was told that as long as I don't have an excessive flow,a fever, or the shakes, I'm fine. I'm sure they're right, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen, too? I had my period (medication induced) from Sept. 2-8, my test on the 10th. Could I possibly be having back to back periods?!?!??

I would say its doubtful that you're having back to back periods - but possible.

I only had spotting within an hour after having my HSG done. I was told that if the bleeding became as heavy as AF, I should contact the doctor.

I think you should get another opinion.

GL!

After mine, I only spotted lightly for a few days. If you are still bleeding tomorrow, I suggest calling the dr back as what you are experiencing doesn't sound normal. To me that does sound like excessive flow for mid-cycle bleeding. GL and I hope the bleeding stops soon!!

Right after mine I was bleeding like a normal cycle. It then tapered off. I think that it was more like spotting for a couple of days. I do remember having some cramping.

Well, I'm still bleeding, and figure I have passed three period's worth of solid discharge since Sunday. My dr. drew blood yesterday to do another pregnancy test, said it's very, very rare that it happens, but not impossible. If they say I'm miscarrying, I will NOT be happy. No one would be, I know. The flow just freaks me out because I don't bleed heavy normally, and yesterday I sat down on the toilet to pee and heard a "plop". I hadn't peed yet, and didn't poop, so I stood up and looked to see what it was. There were two bright spots in the toilet, one was quarter sized, the other a bit smaller. It's grose, but I stuck my finger in them and swirled them around to see if they were blood or solid. They were solid "shreds", which I figure is a few month's worth of uterine liner finally being passed.

I'll post again this afternoon after I get my blood test results. Wish me luck (to NOT be pregnant this time!).
Thanks for your support

Ok, pregnancy test came back negative. Good! My doc is putting me on birth control pills for a month to stop the current bleeding and hopefully regulate my cycles for next month. Sounds good to me! Maybe I'll be one of those women you hear about who get pregnant right away after a dye test!
Thanks for your support

Dawn,

I'm glad to hear your pg test was negative and that your dr is giving you something to stop the bleeding. I hope everything is back to normal soon!!
