Default How long to get Pap results?

I ladies...just had my annual exam today. The DR. told me they would have my pap results in 3 weeks. Is this normal? I seem to remember getting pap results back within days before? They can't tell is something is abnormal from the visit alone, can they? Worried.

I usually get mine back within two weeks. Your doctor is probably just overstating the time in case the lab takes a while to deliver them.

When I had my thyroid tests done recently they told me it would be 5 days, they came back in 1. When I had a triple screen done, they told me two weeks, the test came back in 1.

Doctors often overstate the amount of time from test to results in case the lab has a problem.

Hi,
I work for a laboratory and results are released in two to three weeks...so that sounds about right.
Hope all is well with you.

I think my pap results are usually back in a week or two. I have been told by a couple doctors that they can't confirm that everything is OK just by looking, but they have a pretty good idea. If something is wrong, then your cervix would probably look different. I'm always so worried, my doctor always tells me my cervix looks fine while he's still checking!

My doc told me my pap results would take 2 weeks...it seems like with more advanced Pap testing - which is a good thing - it takes longer to get the results. To the person who works in the lab - is that the case?
