The other thread on being embarrassed made me realize that so many of you haven't been dx for very long. I'm only 30 but was diagnosed 14 years ago! I was off and on BCP's for several years then stopped all treatment for 12 years because I hated BCPs and back then that was the only option. I'm paying for it now though.

I'm also 29 and was diagnosed in 1994. But I didn't discover the info on insluin resistance until this May. So I kind of feel like I'm still a Newbie....

I was offically diagnosed back in 1991 when I was a teenager. I was treated for hormonal imbalances since childhood but no one ever said it is PCO till 1991. Iam fast approaching age 31 so nearly 1/2 my life offically knowing what I have.
Im 22 and was just diagnosed june 15th this year. I dont think my hormones were out of whack last year because all my reproductive hormones tested normal. Over the past few months my periods started acting up so i got it checked out and here i am

I was diagnosed in August of 2003, I first thought that I might have PCOS in February of the same year, one doctor told me I didn't have it, but in August I went and got a second opinion and that's when I was diagnosed, that doctor told me he couldn't believe the other doctor missed it. I was 20 when I was diagnosed, I must say I'm pretty grateful that I was diagnosed fairly quickly, I couldn't imagine going years wondering what was going on with my body!

I am 29 and I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. I've had PCOS symptoms since I was 11. I remained on BCP's for years and that masked the symptoms. I didn't worry about it until I went off BCP's in February--still no AF. Went to the dr, did some bloodwork and *POOF* I was diagnosed. No cysts though so that's a blessing. Put on Met and here I am.

I was diagnosed in 2002 I am 27 yrs old.I have been having problems since I was around 13.I went to alot of different DRs but none of them had any idea what they were doing all they would do was put me on BCPs.Then I finally found a DR that really tried to find out what was wrong with me had alot of tests and found out I had PCOS.
I'm 35 and first noticed symptoms about 16-17 years ago. It took many years and several doctors before I was actually diagnosed a few years ago. It was such a relief to know what was really going on with my body. Until recently I had no idea so many women had it.
I was officially diagnosed in July of 2002; three years ago...so I was diagnosed when I was 18. I had had the signs and symptoms of PCOS from age 11 on....::Hugs::

Was just gonna post about the UK....you beat me to it
I got DX last May (2004) when I was 23. I'd been going to various doctors for over 6 years with various problems relating to PCOS. I knew something was wrong I just wasn't sure what until the last couple of years when I pretty much diagnosed myself before the doctors did. I'm sure that's the case with many ladies, esp here in the UK It's completely ridiculous. Even then, I was told that BCP would sort it out. Thank god I had bad reaction to them and researched further or I would probably not have realised that I can do more to help myself rather than cover up the symptoms with BCP.
It really disgusts me how so many women are pushed aside wondering what's wrong with them and left to get worse in most cases I'd say the last year or so PCOS's profile has been raised very slightly over here, purley because a few 'celebrities' have it and have mentioned it in magazines which has been picked up on very slightly, but that's pretty much IT!
