I did not start losing weight until 3 months on metformin. I take 1600mg a day and I'm now steadily losing 2 pounds a week. I don't really excersize (though I should!) and I haven't really change my diet, I just find that I'm not hungry all the imte like I used to be and if I have well balanced lunch I usually don't even want dinner, usually have something light like salad and soup and very small portions. I'm really excited to see it working for me so DO NOT GIVE UP! I got a bit discouraged when I heard other started losing faster. I've lost almost 30 pounds now, and still going. Metformin hasnt helped regulate my cycles though so I'm hoping in time that will work itself out as well. Good luck!

I ended up losing 12 pounds on metformin. I was so happy and excited. that has been two and a half years now and I have gained back most of it. I don't exercise like I should though.

Don't think of met as a miracle diet pill. It pretty much stabilizes us so that we can lose weight at a normal rate like non pcos people. So if you're not doing the work, you're not going to see weight loss. But if you do, you'll see it come off gradually.

I never saw a drastic drop in weight right after starting met, but I was always mid-diet when I started both times, so my body didn't need to drop the water weight. I just noticed less plateaus and a reduction in the 5 lb-7 lb gains I always saw after eating one high calorie meal.
