Default How long to m/c with chemical pg?

Hi everyone,
I got a +HPT last week, but hcg levels are very low and only rising slowly, and progesterone is dropping (see sig for #s). No cramping, no spotting yet. I have come to terms with the fact I'll m/c, but I'm afraid I'll have to go through it all again when AF comes. Does anyone have any idea how long I'll have to wait with #s as low as mine? If it doesn't happen soon, can they do something to induce it?
Thanks,
Karina

Karina,

Yes, your #'s are low but they are doubling. Your doubling rate is 78.7 hrs (1.24 Daily Rate). It is a little slow but they do have to start somewhere. I wouldn't give up hope yet. Does your dr have you on Progesterone Supplements at all? Your level @ 11 was low to start off with. Progesterone level fluctuate depending on the time of day it was taken. There are many cysters w/ low progesterone that need the extra support after O & while they're pg. I would definately call your dr immediately and ask for the prescription. Some cysters do take the OTC progesterone cream (found @ health food stores) but the prescription kind is stronger. When are you going in for another beta? The only real way to know what is going on is to keep checking your beta levels. I know that you've come to terms that you're going to m/c'y but you're not yet & you do still have a chance. Some women start out w/ low beta levels but they do have to start somewhere. Believe me, I've gone through a chemical pg but my #'s were much lower than yours are & I started bleeding almost immediately after my b/w. I would ask to come in on Monday to get more b/w to see if they're going up or down. By then you should have a more definate answer.

Thanks, Traci.

I'm not currently on progesterone supplements...this was my first cycle on met, and my 1st pregnancy, so it had never been tested. I assume that will be the next step. Both tests were done around 3:30, so it seems like they should be the same. I go back in for more b/w tomorrow, so hopefully I'll know a little more then. I'll call and make sure they're going to do another beta test. I seem to have no symptoms at all currently (for pg or AF), although my temp went back up this morning.

So, we'll see. I just can't bear to get my hopes up, but it's hard not to when I'm still not spotting. I guess only time will tell...

Thanks for your response--Everything seems so surreal right now, and this board is a major help since I hadn't told anyone but DH.

Karina

I would definately get on progesterone suppositories. Your progesterone is pretty low (not as low as I've seen some women have but none the less, pretty low). If nothing else, go to the health food store & get OTC progesterone cream which will help some but not a whole lot. I know (believe me, I know) it's hard not to get your hopes up. You kinda have to be on middle ground, have hope that it will work out but also keep in mind that it's possible you will miscarry. I had a slap in the face my last m/c. Everything was going good but then I started spotting. I spotted for 2 weeks but my levels were rising. I stopped spotting (which never happened during my past m/c's) so I thought everything would be ok. We went in for an u/s & I was in fact having a m/c. I definately know how it is to have your hopes so high & then have them crushed w/in a few minutes.

Stay on the Met as well. Most women stay on through the 1st trimester b/c while you're on Met there is less chance of m/c'ying (studies have been done & there are plenty of cysters around here that will attest to taking Met through the 1st tri).

Karina - with both my chemical PGs, I started bleeding at exactly 18 DPO - both times in the morning, too.

The bleeding was similiar to a regular period, only heavier the first 2 days, clottier, and the cramps on Day 1 were pretty nasty.

We are here for you if you need us!
