Default how long on met did your cycles even out?

I've been on met since beginning december 08 and have only had two cycles.
And although the cycle lengths were getting shorter ie. 51 days to 42 days. For some reason this month as of today I am 45 days.

I thought metformin was supposed to even out your cycles and make you more consistent. Anybody else experience this? Is this normal? Or should I go back into my ob/gyn and have them check the dosage? I am on 1500 mg a day.

It took me being bumped up to 2000mg for my cycles to turn to text book 28 day cycles. I had af before being prescribed met, but my cycles were like 32-34 days long with a late o. After 1 month of 2000mgs, it turned to 28 days and a month later I got a suprise bfp.

I was diagnosed in November 08 and by December I had a regular 28 day cycle...but I was also on bcp.
I'm curious to hear what people have to say about being on met and having regular cycles. I just went off bcp because we are ttc on our own before any fertility drugs. So it would be interesting to see if the met will keep me regular.

I did 3 months of bcp from Oct 07-Jan 8 due to cysts and I stayed regular until I got my bfp. How long have you been on bcp and how much met do you take?

Are you IR? As far as I know both my obgyn and endo doctors have told me I'm not. So I'm wondering if I need to contact my obgyn and ask her to up my dosage? And I've been temping this past month and I did not O at all.

I have been on 2000mg Met. since Sept 2008 and still have not had regular periods. I have had 2 periods with the help of progesterone. I hope that my periods are regular soon because we are TTC.

Well the first time I was on bcp was from approx. 1997-2004. I went off on my own and had regular periods at first. Then they started getting slightly irregular, until Nov. 2008 when I was officially diagnosed with pcos. So the second time for bcp was from Nov. 08-Feb. 09. I take 1000mg of Met every day.

thanks for any help you can give!!

I started met on Jan 24th, and got AF yesterday and before the met was only able to have af with bcp or provera. However, I had the absolute worst PMS on the face of the earth--- anyone else have this problem??

I took Met in 2004 for a year and when they switched my prescription from 500x3 to 750x2 my body went crazy and I stopped taking it. In that year I only had 2 periods.

Now I am back on them since last month and still no period.

In the 4 year break I took I only had 5 periods.

I started with 1000 of fortamet beginning in Oct. and moved up to 1500 in Nov.

I'm doing a lot of things but I think the met is what made the biggest impact.

My cycles gradually got closer together and last month my cycle was 29 days (from 35 - 40) and this month I'm pretty sure I'm on track for something similar.

Just a side note though, my cycles were always very regular prior to this summer when they got all wonky and my pcos got worse again, also had a ton o stress at that time so that might factor into the suddenly off cycles.

I did see that my cysts got a lot worse in the year after the birth of my second child so that's what also got me on met. Have to see if my obgyn will agree to a new ultrasound and round of blood work to see if I've made any progress beyond regulating my cycles.

I got AF after being on met (1000 mg /day) for around 2 1/2 months. I did get an awful lot of acne before getting my AF, which was worse that PMS for me. However after AF all the acne vanished and have not reared their ugly heads till now though I think 2 are getting ready to make their appearance.
