Depends on what type you are on....regular or XR. XR is extended release and enters the system over the whole day. But regular metformin tends to leave the system fairly quickly... The research I did for the FAQ thread showed that Met takes about 2 hours to show up in your system and it peaks 4 hours after you take your dose. It is out of your system about 2 hours after that (except at night when insulin doesn’t fluctuate as much).
