Question How long should I wait to start clomid again?

I know it's a little soon to post this but the doctor never told me how long to wait before TTC again. Is it safe to start clomid when my next AF comes? It took me 5 cycles to conceive this time around and I don't want to wait too long and my body forgets how to O. I see the doctor in 6 weeks but I think AF will show before then. I had my D&C on saturday. Sorry to post this so soon, I'm still grieving my loss, but anxious to try again too.

You should call your doctors office and see what they say. I've heard alot of people try again as soon as AF shows up but some doctors say to wait anywhere between 1-6 months. My doctor said to wait 2 months (cycles really) and we decided to go on the pill for those 2 months. I was afraid AF wouldn't show since I'm so irregular and don't have AF without help and I wanted some control over how long I had to wait. Goodluck!

Thanks so much for the replies. I am continuing to chart to see what my body does. I am still spotting and crampy from the D&C. It took us 4 years after my first miscarriage to conceive this time around (was on a TTC break for a while)and I don't want to wait too long before I O again.

I wanted to try again right away also, and my doctor had said we needed to wait 3-6 months, but I talked her down to 2. Since you're ttc with clomid, it will probably be up to your doctor how long you wait she they're in control of writing prescriptions or not (which I hate!). We also decided to go on bcp again for 2 months, because I am very "normal" on those and that way I won't have to take provera to bring on af in a couple months, but already know I will be having af a few days after my next appointment. I'm so sorry you have to be going through this. {{hugs}}

I've heard that after a m/c (and especially a D&C) that your body is more regular for some reason. My Dr said that he will give me the Clomid once AF comes.... but do I want to be an optimist or a pessimist in thinking I might not ovulate?

I told him I wanted to be pregnant. LOL

My temp recently shot up so it looks like AF will be here in about 13 days.

I have 1 repeat of clomid left and by the time I do that it will time for my 6 week check up with the OB. I'm not sure if my RE will let me continue on clomid because we discussed doing injectables and IUI if the clomid didn't work. The OB seems to think it will work again and he will probably just give it to me. I think it maybe depends on how far along you were when you had the miscarriage. I plan on asking for progesterone supplements this time around. I have been charting for over a year and know when I ovulate so I can start the supps after O instead of waiting for a BFP. Good Luck girls and I'm very sorry for all your losses. This is my second and it's as heartbreaking as the first. =(

It might be for some people, I hope I am the oddball because that hasn't been the case for me. My m/c & D&C was in August last year, and I have had 4 periods since then (Nov '04, March '05, July '05, Sept '05).....the one in July was started by provera (123 cycle days long).

Well I had a nice long post wrote out and I lost it. UGH.
It took my body 3 long months to natually m/c and for my beta to get back down to zero. I chose to wait 6 months after the m/c before trying again. That IUI was unsuccessful and I decided I still wasnt emotionally ready so we chose to wait another 6 months. We even looked into adoption during that time because I didnt know if we could go through what we had already been through again. But we finally decided to try again 1 year after the m/c.

Good luck to you. I would listen to your dr as well as what your body is telling you
