I had a miscarriage on Sept 27th when I was 8 weeks along. I started bleeding on my own and went to the ER and found that the sac and the fetus was only measuring at 5 weeks. The next day I miscarried. I still have not gotten my period yet, but that is my question.
I go tomorrow to get the results from my final post-m/c HCG checks to make sure it has returned to 0. I'm not sure how long it takes for AF to show back up, but I've heard it can take months, and that it's sometimes possible to start TTC again before AF shows up.
I'm a little confused, I don't know if I should just buy a bunch of OPKs and take them every other day and try it that way, or if it really is safer to wait until AF comes. From the research I've done, U/S are now sophisticated enough to predict EDD, so that wouldn't be a problem. I just don't want to sit around and wait another month to try again.

when i miscarried i had a d&c so it was a different situation. my lining was scraped so i had to wait until after my first period. i just triggered on saturday and they said i had a good lining this month, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. good luck to you, and just be prepared because starting the ttc process after a m/c is emotionally difficult. for me, beginning the whole process again rehashed a lot of my emotions from the m/c...fear, hopelessness, etc.
I personally would wait until after AF shows up. Some say you don't have too, but if AF does show up on her own, I'd let her. It means your body has moved passed the loss and has recovered (I wish our hearts were a little easier). My loss was at 22 weeks so you will probably be different, but it took me 6 weeks for my first AF - and then found through temping I wasn't Oing until cd 22 - and that was the month I got pregnant again. They do say the first 3 cycles post birth/loss are easier to conceive, I don't know how true it is, but that's what they say.
I pray that the doctors are able to figure out what happened and you do okay.

thanks....I don't know how to track my temps since I work night shift..so it's not like I can check everyday after the same amount of sleep each day. So I'm guessing I'll just try OPKs...with this last pregnancy I O'd on 15dpo, but we'll see.

If you aren't set against it I would give temping a try still. I have very bad sleeping habits due to chronic back pain, I basically take my temperature whenever I wake up after 4 hours of sleep - and I got a pretty clear chart (amazingly).
Ovulation strips are great too - except of the fact that unless you test twice a day you can't be sure to catch it. I found that out when we conceived our son Christopher, strips showed that I was not ovulating - when apparently I was since we conceived our son.
You probably know this, but they work by catching your LH surge, which can occur between 12-36 hours prior to ovulation. If it occurs less than every 24 hours you could easily miss it. I got, I think they were answer ovulation strips - a tube with 20 strips in it for 14.99, a great dea,l by my opinion. I tested twice a day around ten AM and around nine at night.
Just don't get discouraged if you don't get a positive OPK - just assume you are Oing 14 days before your periods starts if you show no O with the kits. Plus BDing is fun, so it never hurts to practice.
Good luck!

Thanks Tammy!! All good suggestions. I guess I can give temping a try..I just didn't think it would work. Any special thermometer I should use or just a regular digital is fine? And where did you buy your strips? I've only seen the ones that look like HPTs and you only get like 8 in a box for like $10 ,lol....I'll try whatever I can!!! do you use fertilityfriend.com to track your cycle?
