Default How Long Till A.F. Comes

Hello All-

I have been on Glucophage XR since January 11, 2007 and A.F. still has not come for a visit. I just went to my doctor last week and she said shes going to put me on Yaz if A.F. does not come by then (May 4th). I really dont want to go on the pill I want it to come naturally. I am happy that I have lost 16/17 lbs since starting on GXR.

So, my question is how long did it take A.F. to visit after starting on Metoformin or GXR?

Thanks!

Yes, it is frustrating, however, I have waited soooo very long to have a natural period, I have not had a natural one since September of 1995. I started at 500 stayed on it for about a week, then 1000 for another week and then 1500 for like 2.5 weeks and then 2000 for the past two weeks.

Hi!
I feel your pain...I was on Met for 8 months and my period never came--I even went up to 2000 mg. It has been 4 years since I have had a period on my own, but my endo was worried about me going so long w/out a period so I had to go on Provera and then a BCP. I still take Met though even though I am not IR...it has helped with some symptoms. Anyways, I hope it comes soon for you!!

Default 40 days

It took about 40 days for me, but I had only been missing a period for a few months before I went on metformin. Hopefully it'll come soon! Good luck!

Prior to Met I used to see AF 3-4 times per year on her own. AF had visited about a month before I started Met and came again 1 1/2weeks after I started on Met. I would say it was a coincidence since it was so quick, but I took Met once before (2 yrs on Met then 2 yrs off, just started again in Feb) and AF was also very quick to show up the first time I started taking Met. It affects everyone differently, I guess.

I don't think I had a period the whole time I was on Met exclusively. I was on Met from November 2004-July 2005, and since my period didn't show up on its own I had to start BCP.

I had some light spotting, but my dr said that it should be like clock work by the 6 month mark

Just a little update, today I got my first non-bcp induced period, my first since 1995, four months and eight days after starting on the Glucophage-XR. I also have lost about 27 lbs.
