I was on Metformin 1500 mg for a month back in 2002 and I conceived my daughter and stayed on it until 20 weeks pregnant. I just started taking it again yesterday because the PCOS is getting really bad again. How long until I see an effect from it?

like you, i was on it in 2002, and after 6 months concieved my ds.....when he was 6 month, i started back on it......its now been 9 months,..no af....no weight loss....i have gained weight...infact last time, i was on 1000mg, this time i have gone up to 2550mg coz of the lack of effect!. im off to gp next week, to try met with avandia

been ttc for 15 years..diagnosed 16 years ago...had clomid..ovarian drilling..to no avail!!.....started met jan 2002.....shock..pregnant ..baby son born 8 weeks early via emergency c-section,4th feb 2003.due to PLACENTA ABRUPTION!..(both told we are very lucky to be here), second surprise pregnancy, beautiful girl born 4 weeks early via sucessful vbac!,
update: 3rd baby born 8th august, another girl, via 2nd sucessful vbac!
Yikes! I hope that doesn't happen with me! Are you still nursing? maybe that has an effect. I am still nursing my 18 month old. I do have hope that it will work though because in January I was on the Insulin Resistance Diet for 2 weeks and I got AF. Then I went off it because of gall bladder problems and no AF until April. I went on the Insulin Resistance Diet again and 2 weeks later I got AF. Went off the diet again because I am sick of dieting! Even though I know it works I can't cope with raising a toddler and a preschooler and dieting. I'll keep you updated!

please do keep me updated!, no im not feeding, infact, baby was in nicu for 5 weeks, and i expressed, for 5 weeks only, i had alot of stress, with baby being in hospital, and my sister was dying, so my milk dried up!
