Question How long until my periods regulate on Microgestin?

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here and was just diagnosed in March 07 with PCOS.

I was on a progesterone-only pill at the time and had a very heavy 10 day period, followed by another regular period (6 days for me) after only 4 days of no bleeding. Yeah, I was a little peeved with the new birth control so went in for a check at my gyno, who happens to specialize in PCOS, and made the diagnosis. He then put me on Microgestin, a low-estrogen/progesterone BCP, to help regulate my cycle.

So here's my question(s). I am on my 3rd week of the first pack of Microgestin, been spotting for about 6 days now off and on. The info on the pill pack says to contact your doc after 7 days of spotting or if it continues. Also having PCOS, how do I gauge how much is normal spotting when switching? I guess I am looking for women who've also been on Microgestin (or another low-dose estrogen BCP) to regulate their cycles and how its worked for them. Can I really only take a few cycles to regulate, like my doctor said it (might)?

Not everyone at once, now... ;-) haha

First off I'm aware it can take a few months for ANYONE taking a BCP to regulate, but just wanted some idea to how "normal" I am in this mess compared to you guys... its hard bc my doctor has the cruddiest hours and I don't want to make an appt to come in just to ask a few questions

For example, my pill info reads to "report to your doctor if you have BTB for longer than 7 days", which I have now. Anyone experience anything like this?

Again, I was always 28 days until a couple months ago, when I had excessive (10 days very heavy AF, followed by 4 days no bleeding, then another 6 days AF) bleeding and was diagnosed. Granted, I'm not bleeding heavily now, but I'm worried about it... just don't want to get "worse" you know what I mean?? Anyone relate?
