Question How long until Spiro. starts working?

I just started taking 100mg of Spiro. 2 days ago. My doc. said to call her in a month to see if I needed to up my doseage to 200mg a day. My question is... How long until I should start to see effects of the drug, mostly facial hair loss? Thanks for any information everyone has!! This site is great!

Hi,

I don't recall what dose of spiro I was taking when I was on it about 3 1/2 years ago. I do recall a noticable difference in facial hair within about a month. May I also recommend a facial cream? It's called Aveeno Postively Smooth Facial Moisturizer. It costs about $11 at CVS. It really does work to help minimize the appearance of facial hair.

FYI...if you are ttcing spiro is not a good idea. My RE was very upset when he heard that I had taken it and said he would never prescribe it.

i've been taking it for a year now and haven't noticed much change. I think the only thing really is that a few hairs on my chin are just starting to look like normal facial hair... light coloured and not as coarse... guess its time to discuss something else with my doc when i see her in jan.

I've been taking spiro for 10 months now. I am on 100mg a day. It took me a while to notice a change, maybe about 6-7 months but there is a difference, I am glad that I stayed with it as at first I had some bad side effects. The consultant that I see every 6 months is fantastic and she told me that it takes between 6 and 12 months to notice a difference because of the life cycle of the hair. She also told me that after a year there would be no extra benefits so I will have to move on to something else.
