On this website, you plug in your height, weight, sex, one of many activities and the hours/minutes you did the activity. After you submit that information, you get a mini-report with your BMI, and BMR (whatever THAT is?!?), the amount of calories you burned and what that is equivalent to.
For instance, I learned that my stacking firewood for 2.5 Hrs today is about 974 cals. or 1.6 Big Macs, or 12 Apples etc.
I don't know, but I think it's a pretty neat tool! |

that does sound like a neat tool. The only problem I have with these gadgets is that it would take me an hour to key in all my activities every day b/c I switch around so much. I never do the same thing for ten minutes... I guess I would have to enter "chores" for that one...

I especially like how they estimate the calores burned and then give examples of the food that you burned off. My hour long morning walk burned 350 calories or, they say, the caloric equivalent of 0.29 Deep fried onions with sauce, or 1.0 Big Macs or 7.6 apples!
I burned off a Big Mac! (actually, I have a feeling that a Big Mac may have more calories than 350, but hey, I'll take it!) Kathryn |

"Walking - to and from outhouse (to is faster)"
ROFL!!

Btw, a McDonald's site posts the calories for a Big Mac as 590 calories and 34 grams of heart-unfriendly fat!

Start End Weight Calorie Lose
Weight Weight Loss Loss Weight
156 lb 136 lb 20 lb 200 11 m 20 d
At this rate you will weigh NOTHING in:
7 Years
7 Months
0 Days
I will weigh NOTHING?? Wouldn't I just LOVE that!! LOL
And now I'm off for some "vigorous miscellaneous cleaning" for the next three hours and burn 800 some calories. Here I go...

I'm starting to think not all the info on that site can be correct... I mean if they state you will weigh NOTHING if you keep losing 200 calories a day, that is just ridiculous... |

I often use exercise calorie counters because I count calories from the food I eat to try to "balance" my in/out expenditure!! There are a lot of dodgy ones out there but a few really good ones and it can help sometimes to find the motivation to exercise. It can also help to know if you eat that chocolate bar you are going to have to do X amount of exercise to burn it off!
