How many mgs of Metformin does everyone take?
Most people I know take 2 pills a day, 500 mg each. So they take 1000mg daily.
I take 2000mg daily - 4 pills a day - 500 mg each.

I started met in mid September and they started me on 500mg. I need to go back in December and they may up it then. They want to make sure my blood sugars are stable before giving me a higher dose.

I started Met this week, the dr wanted me to take a total of 1700mg a day (850mg Twice a day), but after readng some of the threads on here I've decided to start at 850mg Once a day for a bit, then up it to Twice a day when I feel ready.

I take 2250mg a day (3 x750mg pills) all at once in the evening.

Calihousewife- Do you take XR or regular. I could only handle 500 mg of the regular, when I went up to 750 I was soooo sick! Anyway my dr switched me to the XR and I am taking 1500 mg without a porblem.

I take 1500 (2x750 once a day) But I am going up to 2000 because I haven't noticed 1500 helping at all!
